Office/ Shift Time:9:30am to 5 pm
Roles and responsibilities:
- Responsible to design, develop the product(s) to the allotted segment(early/medium/mid late/late) as per the need of the tract and deliver the product(s) in a time frame manner
- Correspondence with other universities(SAUs,ICAR) and international organizations to obtain the germplasm
- Planning and proper execution in development of hybrids and parents and evaluation in station and out station trials
- Responsible for planning and Execution of Lay out of selfing block, crossing block, trials, germplasm,active lines etc.
- Planning and proper execution in development of hybrids and parents and evaluation in station and out station trials
- Time to time monitoring of all breeding trial data recorded on various aspects (yield and yield contributing traits) by the Subordinates in the field book and in the computers
- Responsible to get the quality data from the subordinates and appraising to the Sr. Breeder
- Monitor the budget sheet for labor and other inputs as per the budget allotted, utilize the resources properly and appropriate economy measures should be followed
- Maintain the register of all hybrids tested in ICAR,SAU, TC1 to T6& SPR trials and report to HOD
- Maintain the register of DNA finger printing of all parents and hybrids sent for VIC, commercial hybrids for sale in different states, and report to HOD
- Maintain the record of cold storage and working storage materials and report to HOD
- Visit the trials for data recording at out locations and crop tours
- Presentations of hybrids registered under SAU's in different states
- Sending promising entries for ICAR -AICRIP trials, promoted entries after AVH-II, sending them to VIC, subsequently for notification and release proposals to CVRC.
- Attending meetings, seminars, workshops, DUS monitoring trials, hybrid registration meetings
- Attending to any complaints in B/s, F/S and Hybrid Seed Production Units.
- Preparation&presentation of HAM report
- Updating the knowledge in Genetics and Plant breeding,according to the market needs, designing and delivering the products
- As per the DUS guidelines characters documentation, compiling,maintenance and reporting
- Close coordination and monitoring the sub -staff for the execution of approved technical program in Toto
- Training and supervision of pre & post seed production practices, and pests and disease and its control measures for the allotted crop(s) to the sub-staff
- Preparation of all experimental lay-out plan as per the design and communicating to field staff in time
- Overall supervision of timely identification of pests& disease and to take up control measures with sub staff
- Preparation of mean data of all trials, analysis and interpretations and report preparation
- Execution and Time to time supervision of trials TC1 to T6
- Responsible for the supervision of Nucleus seed production program with all precautions and comparing with its diagnostic characters
- Execution of germ plasma - augmented block design lay-out, crop management, proper harvesting and cold storage
- Maintenance breeding of promising commercial hybrid(s) parental lines nucleus seed
- Preparation of technical reports
- Compilation of different trial data, analysis and interpretation and communicating to HOD
- Forecasting necessary fertilizers and chemicals for the season and placing the indent
- Line development /improvement program: Take assistance of sub staff to make advancement of diverse breeding lines based on the objective(s)
- To see timely dispatch of seed material for the Demo,ICAR,SAU etc. trials as per the directive of Sr. Breeder
- Visit to the MLT plots to see the performance of promising hybrids and crop tours
- Know how the latest plant breeding techniques and tools with conjunct use of biotechnology
- Collection of germ plasma,Evaluation, Utilization& maintenance
- Collection of germ plasm,evaluation, documentation, Utilization & maintenance, rejuvenation(as per the need) and proper storage
- Line development /improvement programme with the field officers
- Emplying appropriate statistical tools for the anlysis for each crop
- Responsible for the development/supervision of entire progarm of A,B,R line development, MR reaction, and A,B,R multiplication, AXR lines crossing program, hybrid evaluation etc. and storing the seed material of above in cold storage.
- Attending National & international seminars,symposia,work shops and training programmes to update the knowledge
- Sending the nucleus seed to the basic seed team with diagnostic characters of each entry and a guard sample should be maintained
- Monthly, Quarterly annual report submission
- Manage LDB programs in Cotton
- GMS conversion as per plan in cotton
- Trait (BGII) conversion as per plan
- Taking of good pictures of products at right stage

- Involve the sub ordinates to Implement and execute the Lay outs of selfing block, crossing block and trials and monitor for successful implementation of programmes

- Maintain the commercial hybrid samples, Ear/ cobs /Kapas /pod /fruit /seed etc., to exibit in KisanMelas/ Agro- expo events.
