Assistant Vice President - Operations - Auto Ancillary (15-20 yrs)
Role Purpose :
- Responsible for supporting all RFQs by providing manufacturing related inputs. Responsible for manufacturing process design for new programs being launched and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all manufacturing processes in order to ensure manufacturing of high quality product in a repeatable and cost effective manner for 14 Plants across India.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :
Process Design :
- Provide inputs about manufacturing feasibility involving line fixtures, line gauges and tooling required against the RFQ received with a detailed insight on the manufacturing processes and in house investment cost for all new product inquiries
- Consolidate all planned programs in the BU and estimate the manufacturing investment (i.e. CAPEX) required in terms of new machines, facilities, capacity augmentation. Provide advice to the management with respect to make or buy decision with respect to in-house or subcontracted manufacturing
- Design the process of manufacturing from planning to packaging of the finished product to fine tune all the processes involved in the manufacturing and packaging process
- Prepare the production control plan consisting of preliminary process capability study, production trial plan, jigs and fixtures trials
- Work with prototype manufacturing process designed electronically in order to plan the final manufacturing process
- Identify the list of fixtures and finalize process failures modes and effects analysis. Prepare detailed production layout, quality and process planning including pre-launch control plan, end of the line test bench development
- Prepare process parameters including design review of fixtures with suppliers including fixtures trial at suppliers end
- Examine the flow and process of manufacturing for new programs or existing programs in order to identify streamlining opportunities, improving turnaround and reduction of costs
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts
- Develop manufacturing practices and undertake initiatives for operational excellence
People Responsibilities :
- Responsible for development of team members by undertaking regular performance discussion, coaching and mentoring
- Assess performance of direct reports and provide them with developmental feedback. Use performance data to develop a successor for the role
Technical Skills/Knowledge :
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as Lean, Kaizen, Kanban, 5C, 5S and TPM
- Expertise in relevant materials fabrication equipment/ techniques
- DFM, DOE experience with understanding of statistical methods
- Knowledge of TS 16949 process
