Battery Chemistry Role - Vehicles (8-30 yrs)
- Drive the decisions regarding the chemical makeup of batteries used in the vehicles .
- Coordinate with the marketing team to understand customer needs, suggest possible solutions, and translate the same into tangible technologies
- Oversee the continuous scanning of the global market for potential opportunities to reduce cost by upgrading the technology
- Contribute to supplier selection through benchmarking on performance KPIs
- Manage all decisions towards assigning specific battery packs models to the right program based on cell and battery makeup, module behavior and expected performance
- Oversee and contribute to the design choices for the battery makeup and performance by factoring in long-term market demands
- Track the current global landscape on developments in battery chemistry and design; recommend updates to the relevant teams
- Ensure the availability of material for battery manufacturing by updating the SC&P team on supply risks and potential shortages
SKILLS:
- Excellent knowledge of the latest developments in electrochemistry of batteries around the world
- Exposure to optimization of manufacturing processes
- Understanding of electrochemistry and an expert knowledge of battery behavior and high voltage safety
- Knowledge of inorganic material synthesis, physical and chemical analytics, and quality controls is a plus
- Experience with automotive electronics systems development and launch at a large volume
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering or related fields
- PhD with exposure to electrochemistry is a plus
- 10+ years experience in a relevant senior engineering
BACKGROUND:
- Experience in automotive industry (exposure to Hybrid or BEV is a plus)
- Experience in driving cell chemistry decisions required
