Bridge International Academies - Merchandise Officer - Technology (4-8 yrs)
About the Role :
Bridge International Academies is looking for a Merchandise Officer in India. This position will be based out of Delhi. The Merchandise Officer will spend time assisting the Global Merchandise Director and other colleagues on all aspects of sourcing, production, QA, and also coordinate with shipping, customs and various Bridge offices. In addition, this position will assist in the sampling and new product development. While this role reports directly to Global Merchandising Director, there will be a dotted reporting line to Director of IT Operations. The Merchandise Officer will also potentially work, in consultation, with the Global Merchandising Director Director of IT Operations or other colleagues on their own projects. This position provides assistance with the preparation of all aspects of production, QA and new product development.
What you will do :
Sourcing :
- Work with Global Merchandise Director to identify suppliers in India, China and other countries with a strong focus on identifying suppliers who can service local as well as international requirements.
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships, monitor production schedules and troubleshoot any issues related to raw materials, product cycle processes, specifications, requirement gathering etc.
- Day to day management of coordination with suppliers in China, Hong Kong and India
- Work closely with Tech to define / re-define specifications of our tech products. Some of the products you would be overseeing include e-ink tablets, LCD tablets, smartphones, laptops, and hardware "accessories" (battery backups, charging cables, covers, lanyards, etc.)
Production :
- Monitor closely all critical aspects of production - Costing, timelines, tech specifications, pilot projects, Pricing negotiations etc.
- End-to-end follow-up during the entire lifecycle of the product (from initial samples to final product dispatch)
- Responsible for Supervision of Production Cycle (From Planning to Production & Packaging Process) of multiple units
- Oversee Production WIP reports from each vendor; reviews and tracks key production dates
- Drive daily development process through communication with our vendor base throughout the product's life cycle
- Actively highlight development issues and propose resolutions to meet deadlines and make product Production-friendly
- Communication - Responsible for effective communication with internal and external parties
- Minute and grass root level coordination with different departments
Quality Assurance :
- Work with Global Merchandising Director to create an internal quality process for to track and improve product quality
- Support the implementation of improved quality reporting measures
- Inspect and evaluate procedures and processes for production
- Perform Quality Audits during and after production cycle as and when required
- Collaborate with receiving parties and shipping to ensure a quick and efficient
- Work closely with vendors to identify and troubleshoot quality issues
- Travel to factories in India and abroad as and when required for inspection
Ad-hoc Projects :
- Work with Supply Chain staff in all countries to produce all appropriate shipping documentation required for the company as well customs in each of the individual countries
- Act as liaison with Shippers and Custom Agencies and various Supply Chain teams within India Bridge Operating Countries to ensure delivery of product
- Assist merchandise team in QA, Inspection and other activities as and when required
- Support in on-boarding and document verification of New vendors
- Assure all budgets and schedules are being met for product produced in India
- Ensure inventory counts are accurate and reflect delivered product
- Be called upon to provide status updates on any active projects
- Ensure compliance with the Bridge's standards and with various external regulatory & statutory standards
