Civil Engineer - Construction Design (1-3 yrs)
Responsibilities :
- Prepares plans, specifications, and estimates of simple to moderate complexity for traffic signals, traffic signal interconnect, and traffic control devices
- Provides technical support for county traffic signal and lighting electrical maintenance contract, pavement marking management, and traffic signal modernization projects
- Conducts preliminary field studies and prepares concept sketches and designs
- Reviews traffic signal and highway permit plan submittals
- Makes field inspections on work in progress and completed projects
- Investigates citizen complaints related to engineering problems and recommends solutions
- Coordinates proposed improvements and permit projects with utility companies, public agencies, and other County departments
- Conducts traffic data collection, including speed studies and traffic volume analyses
- Utilizes software packages including Microsoft Excel, HCS, Synchro, and Centracs to support county traffic operations goals
- Advises and answers technical questions
- Prepares special and periodic reports
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements :
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related
- A valid Driver's License
