Job Description for Control Engineer (LAM) - HRSG / Boiler / BOP & Commissioning
Job Description:
- HRSG / Boiler / BOP engineer directly responsible for HRSG / Boiler / BOP control design & implementation for Third Party DCS / PLC retrofit projects
- Engage in Implementation and Testing phases of HRSG / Boiler / BOP Design projects
- Engage in HRSG / Boiler / BOP Start-up & Commissioning at sites
Primary Duties and Accountabilities :
- Site walk-downs for data collection
- I/O database preparation, database partitioning for redundancy and fail-safe configurations from Third Party DCS / PLC systems
- Datalink engineering for third party DCS / PLC systems
- Design and implementation of HRSG / Boiler / BOP controls and Protection Systems from Third Party DCS / PLC systems
- Perform detailed engineering activities to deliver as per customer requirements
- Use of productivity tools & reference libraries effectively to increase project efficiency
- Process simulation & testing
- Design Review Meeting (DRM), Pre-FAT, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) & clean-up after FAT
- Verification and functional testing of I/O interfaces to field devices
- Supervision of HRSG / Boiler / BOP control system retrofits and installations & commissioning
- HRSG / Boiler / BOP commissioning & start-up
- Performance guarantee & reliability test
- Identifying and communicating areas of potential process and design improvements to project manager
- Compliance with internal and customer safety and security requirements
- Working with contractors / sub-contractors
- Fostering smooth collaboration and communication with all project stakeholders (internal project teams, customer, and on-site contractors)
Required Skills:
- B. Tech. / B.E. (ECE, EEE, I&C, E&I)
- 4 to 6 years of experience in Power Plant process, project engineering and commissioning
- HRSG / Boiler / BOP Control System Process knowledge
- HRSG / sub-critical / super-critical fossil fired Boiler / BOP control design, implementation,
process sequencing and protection philosophies
- Advanced troubleshooting, set priorities, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills
- Excellent language and communication skills; both verbal and written
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and commissioning documents
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to queries from groups of managers, clients, and customers
- Ability to interface with vendors & sub-contractors
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Experience with major Power Plant, HRSG / Boiler / BOP manufacturer, or HRSG / Boiler / BOP Controls vendor
- Proficiency with ISA and SAMA logic symbols, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics
- Experience with designing and implementing control system configuration changes
- Good knowledge of Allen Bradley (Rockwell) PLC
- Added Advantage will be Proficiency with one or more DCS/PLC platforms (e.g., ABB Pro Control/ Bailey INFI 90 / Symphony Harmony, Yokogawa Centum VP / CS3000, Siemens T3000 / TXP, GE Mark V / VI, Mitsubishi DIASYS Netmation, Invensys, Honeywell TDC3000, MaxDNA, MetsoDNA,Alstom Alspa320, Allen Bradley / GE-Fanuc / Schneider / Siemens PLCs & SCADA etc.)
- Added Advantage will be knowledge of Datalinks (Modbus RTU / TCP-IP, ELC, Profibus, OPC)
