Crew Chief - Equipment Maintenance (6-12 yrs)

- Employee is primarily responsible for planning and supervising the work of a maintenance crew.
Duties of this position include but are not limited to :
- Supervising a maintenance crew.
- Performing work tasks including those being carried out by those under his/her supervision.
- Operating vehicles and equipment as assigned.
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Operate the winch units in and out of the hole, zeroes tools and monitor tension meter, cable speed, depth and spooling of cable, understands depth control and weight indicator systems
- Perform a variety of duties associated with the servicing of an oil or gas well and the maintenance and repair of equipment
- Ensure a high quality of service by maintaining the equipment assigned to the cell in top working condition, in accordance with the base program and as directed by the Engineer
- Actively promote Safety at wellsite, in the shop and within his community through making SOC cards and Quality Improvement ideas
- Prepare well for service operation, align the logging unit, rig the sheave wheels and connect multiple tools as required
- Identify the primary and secondary tools and associated equipment required to run all services in the country Assist the Engineer in the calibration and maintenance check of all tools and equipment
- Operate the winch units in and out of the hole, zeroes tools and monitor tension meter, cable speed, depth and spooling of cable, understands depth control and weight indicator systems
- Build bridles, head, torpedoes and rope sockets
- Inspect, maintain and repair primary tools, service units, and associated equipment
- Repair, maintain, rebuild and change cables
- Clean, maintain and paint tools, doghouse and ancillary equipment both on and offshore
- Report all malfunctions or suspected areas of trouble to the appropriate shop personnel and keep the Engineer informed at all times
- Assist the Foreman in shop duties in liaison with the Field Engineer/Location Manager.
Qualifications :
Formal Qualifications & Certification :
- University (relevant degree) or
- Diploma (relevant degree) + 6 years working experience
- Certified as 10K PCE by IADC or equivalent
- Knowledge of procedures/regulations on the transportation of dangerous goods (explosives/Radioactive Sources)
Specific Skills/Training & Competencies :
- Able to work under pressure and difficult weather conditions
- Good physical condition and health
- Understand depth control and weight indicator systems
- Good interaction within crew members (engineers and operators)
- Good oral understanding of English
