Custiv - Technical Presales Manager (7-10 yrs)
Role Overview:
The Costing & Process Planning Engineer will coordinate and lead estimating efforts to ensure optimal costing and process selection at Custiv. Specializing in casting, forging, & machining this role involves estimating manufacturing costs, planning processes, and meeting customer and manufacturing requirements. Overall, the job is to choose the most economical and right manufacturing process that meets the product requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project scope of work:
- Understanding a manufacturing project's scope involves analyzing processes from raw material procurement to delivery, including Incoterms.
2. Manufacturing Process Plan:
- Develop detailed manufacturing plans by selecting suitable processes and equipment for production.
3. Cost Estimation:
- Calculate and analyse costs for materials, labour, and processes, including pre and post manufacturing expenses, knowledge on calculating MHR (Machine Hour Rate), labour rates, and cycle times for different commodities.
4. Maintain Costing Database:
- Enter and manage cost data in the pricing database, ensuring accuracy and up to-date information, experience in costing for various commodities specific to the manufacturing regions of India
5. Due Diligence and Negotiation:
- Evaluate manufacturers for quality and compliance and negotiate optimal pricing with suppliers.
Skills and Expertise Required:
1. Manufacturing Processes: Understanding different manufacturing techniques such as forging, casting, machining, heat treatment, post processing etc
2. Costing: Experience in zero based costing, should costing, activity-based costing etc.
3. Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and 3D models. Familiarity with CAD software.
4. Market understanding: Understanding market trends and material costs. Familiarity with vendor pricing and sourcing strategies.
5. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex data sets and break down components into cost elements.
6. Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure optimal pricing. Strong persuasive skills.
7. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
