Deputy Executive Engineer - Civil (12-15 yrs)
Overall Responsibility: Has the overall responsibility of managing, designing, developing, executing, and maintaining the Institute's infrastructure and ensuring its safety. Conduct on-site investigations to assess potential risks, quality of material and costs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of civil engineers in the planning, design, execution, and maintenance of civil infrastructure projects on the campus. This may include buildings, residential quarters, hostels, roads, drainage systems, water supply systems, and other civil structures.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to junior engineers on civil engineering problems, structural analysis, and design solutions.
- Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring projects are completed within budget and on time.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, tender documents, and construction contracts for civil engineering projects.
- Oversee the construction process, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Manage and resolve technical challenges and unforeseen issues arising during project execution.
- Conduct inspections of existing civil structures and develop strategies for maintenance, renovation, or upgradation.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to project lifecycles, including project proposals, progress reports, and completion reports.
- Liaise with architects, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders involved in civil engineering projects.
- Stay updated on the latest civil engineering practices, technologies, and building codes.
- Contribute to the overall development and strategic planning of the Civil Engineering Office of the Institute.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment for the civil engineering team.
Required Competencies:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized university (preferred, Bachelor's degree with extensive experience may be considered).
- Minimum 12 years of experience in civil engineering design, construction, and project management.
- Work experience essentially in inspections of existing civil structures, maintenance, renovation, or upgradation.
- Personal integrity, honesty, and due diligence.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, structural analysis, construction methods, and project management techniques.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
- Working knowledge of relevant Indian Standards (IS) codes for civil construction and project management methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Conversant with IT skills - MS Office and Opensource for documentation and effective presentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented approach.
- Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Type of Role: Regular position with an initial contract of 3 years. Renewal will be based on performance and the Institute's needs. The performance will be evaluated every academic year.
Pay: The compensation is designed to reward the best talent and will not be a limiting factor for the right person as per the Institute's norms.
