Deputy Executive Engineer - Electricals (12-15 yrs)
Overall Responsibility:
Has the overall responsibility of leading and managing electrical engineering projects within the Institute. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, safety, and development of the Institute's electrical infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress.
- Oversee the planning, design, execution, and maintenance of electrical systems, UPS, for the campus, including power distribution, lighting, building automation, and communication systems.
- Develop systems for generating power through solar panels and other renewable energy sources.
- Identify and prioritize electrical infrastructure needs based on the Institute's growth and research activities.
- Develop and implement technical specifications, standards, and procedures for electrical installations and maintenance within the Institute.
- Manage electrical project budgets and ensure adherence to financial constraints.
- Coordinate with electricity boards and local power substations for the Institute's requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation of tender documents and evaluate bids from electrical contractors and vendors.
- Oversee the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment.
- Manage and troubleshoot electrical system faults and ensure timely resolution of electrical emergencies.
- Collaborate with civil engineers for the electrical work to be executed within the Campus.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to electrical projects, maintenance activities, and budget expenditures.
- Collaborate with faculty members on research projects related to electrical engineering, providing technical expertise and guidance.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in electrical engineering technologies and incorporate them into IIIT-H infrastructure where applicable.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations and electrical codes.
Competencies Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in a relevant engineering role, preferably in a similar academic or research institution.
- Proven experience in leading and managing electrical engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, power systems analysis, and electrical equipment maintenance.
- Personal integrity, honesty, and due diligence.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN) and project management tools.
- Conversant with IT skills - MS Office and Opensource for documentation and effective presentation.
- Working knowledge of relevant Indian Standards (IS) codes for electrical installations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to effectively manage a team, collaborate with faculty and staff, and represent the department in meetings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Time management skills and strong organizational abilities.
Type of Role: Regular position with an initial contract of 3 years. Renewal will be based on performance and the Institute's needs. The performance will be evaluated every academic year.
Pay: The compensation is designed to reward the best talent and will not be a limiting factor for the right person as per the Institute's norms.
