Design & Development Engineer (4-9 yrs)
Description of the Company / Business Unit :
The business unit will be responsible for developing solutions for Automotive & Off-Highway vehicles such as sensors, switches, wiring harness kits, electric water pumps etc.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory, DC to DC switching, power supply design.
- Experience in defining product development processes and following the same
- Experience in using CAD design software
- Thorough experience in NPD processes, wiring harness, automotive standards and regulations
- Knowledge in Safety standards for Electrical & Electronics systems - NEC, NFPA, UL 508, IEC standard, IPC, SEMI Standard etc.
- Testing & measuring equipment knowledge
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing, assembly and control processes for various types of components
Duties & responsibilities:
- Designing and developing new products like e-stop switches, position switches, current sensors, temperature sensors, battery disconnect switches, wiring harness cold start kits, electric water pumps
- Prepare concept & perform all technical calculations
- Prepare technical specifications, Define test plan and method to test the proto parts
- Qualification of components as per various global standards
- Define material specifications for electrical items such as contacts, wires, bus bars, insulators etc.
- Benchmarking of products with customer or competitor components
- Read, interpret and create electrical schematics, cable drawings, system interconnects and BOMs
- Failure analysis and correction in design
- Prepare design specification sheet and DFMEA
- Identify and work with suitable suppliers for development of sub-components
- Support to define the production process and resolving any issues therein.
