EHS Head - Chemical Engineering (15-25 yrs)

Position: EHS Head

Location: Mumbai

Qualification: Bachelor's / Master's degree in Chemical Engineering. Additional qualification in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Safety & Health, EH&S Management, or a related field required would be an added advantage.

Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience within the Environmental Health and Safety function.

Job Purpose:

- Responsible for EHS strategies, Sustainability, Process Safety & EHS Statutory Compliance.

- Provide strategic direction and leadership for Company's Environmental Health and Safety Teams/Initiatives.

- Assures that Company continuously improves our performance in Environmental Health and safety innovation while maintaining compliance with all Local, State, and Central Environmental and Safety regulations.

Role & responsibilities:

- Strategic leadership of Company's various Environmental Health and Safety initiatives such that Company maintains and builds upon its reputation as proactive best-in-class corporate citizens.

- Understand the chemicals and any/all potential safety and environmental hazards used/present at all Company Sites, take steps to mitigate any potential safety and environmental health hazards.

- Global role for coordinating and driving the activities related to Environment, Health & Safety

- Develop Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability policies and site-specific goals to meet the organization's objectives and targets to maintain environmental sustainability

- Implementation & improvement of Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability systems and initiatives in line with corporate & local requirements as defined by law

- Create and maintain program management systems to ensure that Company's various Safety and Environmental Health certifications, accreditations, and compliance efforts are developed and continuously improved.

- Monitor and report the Environment, Health & Safety indicators & Sustainability performances.

- Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all of Company's various facilities, departments, on regulatory compliance issues in Safety and Environmental Health.

- Leading projects like building awareness, capability building amongst employees to create visibility about sustainability

- Lead various internal organizational teams/committees that help develop COMPANY's Environmental & Safety mission, policies, and respective goals/objectives.

- Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability awareness creation through employee engagement activities.

- Conduct regular audits for continual improvement of the systems

Coordinating and helping the implementation of corporate sustainability initiatives across all sites.

- Legal compliance, risk assessment, incident reporting and investigation, emergency response plan, waste mgmt. work permits, site specific objectives and targets, management plans, develop control measures to mitigate the risks, trainings, and communication strategy.

- Implementation of Global EHS requirements as well as local regulations compliance.

- Liaison with State and Central regulatory authorities

- Serve as a representative of the Company and liaise with a variety of external entities including Central, State, and Local Agencies, Customers, Suppliers, industry related groups, and various non-profit, educational, government, and community entities.

- Represent the company on various non-profit boards, government committees, and trade organizations as appropriate to support Company Environmental, Health, and Safety strategies.

- Devising significant solutions for maintaining sound environmental, Health and safety conditions in the organization.

- Proficiency in improving safety systems, developing safe work procedures, Risk Assessments and resolving all kinds of safety problems that are commonly encountered.

- Effective communicator with excellent man management skills, strong analytical, problem solving & organizational abilities.

- Highly effective written and verbal communications skills

- Ability to travel
