EMI/EMC Design Specialist - Semiconductor Products (4-12 yrs)

Job Title : EMI EMC Specialist

Mandatory Skills : EMI EMC simulation and design from ECU's - Engine control units- Skills / Competencies

Job Responsibilites :

1. EMC Basics : Required knowledge of possible EMI/EMC sources, coupling paths on schematics and PCB's then how to identify these sources, antennas and control them.

2. Layout Reviews : Required understanding of the possible current paths in the layout. Able to identify the high voltage and current switching paths. How to control these paths efficiently. Stack up selection, component placement, controlling loops, routing of filters and critical components, power & ground plane strategy etc.

3. SMPS - EMC: Required understanding of the SMPS working, hot loops, resonances, switching components effect on emissions and controlling methods.

4. Component selection & schematics review : Required knowledge selection filter components like ferrites, inductors, capacitors and limitations of these components also need knowledge on selecting active components like Diodes, MOSFETs and IC's. Able to suggest these filter components on schematics to improve emissions/immunity of the product.

5. EMC Standards & test setup's Knowledge : Understanding of different OEM EMI/EMC standards and test methods and Purpose of the test. How set up and monitoring equipment can influence the test results. Uncertainty of test results between different test setups and test locations.

6. EMC Troubleshooting skills : Understanding of different troubleshooting techniques like near field probes, current probe etc and able to apply them effectively.

7. 2D/3D Tool Knowledge: Knowledge on 2D/3D simulation tools like ANSYS/CST like, Numerical methods used by these tools, limitations of these tools and how verify the accuracy of these tools.

8. PI/SI Simulation experience: Knowledge on Power integrity, Signal integrity simulations, purpose of those simulations and how to improve. Understanding of different models (like Spice, S-parameters, IBIS models etc) and their limitations.

9. EMI/EMC Simulation experience : Knowledge on the EMC simulations like near field emissions, shielding effectiveness, cable modeling and emissions from cables and BCI simulations.

10. Theory & Equipment usage experience : Good understanding of Electromagnetics, numerical methods, spice simulations and equipment usage like EMI receiver, Oscilloscope, near field probes etc.
