Energy Auditor - Electrical Systems (5-10 yrs)
Job Summary :
- An energy auditor should be an Electrical Engineering Graduate. Technical training and previous employment history in a related field is also preferred.
- He should possess a positive attitude, good communication skills, and friendly behavior. He will be commuting to sites and performing several inspections, and after each he must prepare the reports before continuing onto the next. This is a position that may require long hours into evenings and weekends.

- The energy auditor will inspects the energy flow of electrical systems in a building to reduce the amount used. These auditors perform these inspections in buildings of all size from residential to industrial, usually in an effort to conserve energy.
Responsibilities and Duties :
1) An energy auditor should be an Electrical Engineering Graduate. Technical training and previous employment history in a related field is also preferred.
2) He should possess a positive attitude, good communication skills, and friendly behavior. This is a position that may require long hours into evenings and weekends.
3) Conduct energy audits in conformance with recognized industry standards (BEE).
4) Prepare schematic design documents and specifications including scopes of work.
5) Identifying energy efficiency projects, their estimated cost, estimated energy savings, and estimated return on investment for clients.
6) Evaluate and interpret energy data.

8) Tools of the trade include energy meters and other tools that may be necessary for performing readings and installation of more energy efficient devices as follows :
- Power Analyzer
- Portable Appliance Analyzer
- Ultrasonic Thickness tester
- Insulation Resistance testing kit
- Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera
- Earth resistance testing kit
- Ultra Sonic Flow Meter
- Anemometer
- Tycho Meter
9) He should ensure timely calibration of all the above equipment.
10) He will be required to analyse utility data by studying the building itself and energy bills to determine where improvements can be made.
11) Calculate potential for energy savings.
12) Identify any health or safety issues related to plant & equipment's.
13) Collect and analyse field data related to energy usage.
14) Compare existing energy consumption levels to normative data.
15) Identify and prioritize energy saving measures.
16) Quantify energy consumption to establish baselines for energy use or need.
17) Recommend energy efficient technologies or alternate energy sources.
18) Perform all the tests related energy evaluation.
19) Measure energy usage with devices such as data loggers, universal data recorders, light meters, sling psychometric, psychometric charts, flue gas analyzers, amp-probes, watt meters, volt meters, thermometers, or utility meters.
20) Inspect or evaluate mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the energy consumption of each system.
21) Analyse energy bills including utility rates or tariffs to gather historical energy usage data.
22) Analyse technical feasibility of energy saving measures using knowledge of engineering, energy production, energy use, construction, maintenance, system operation, or process systems.
23) Determine patterns of building use to show annual or monthly needs for heating, cooling, lighting, or other energy needs.
24) Educate customers on energy efficiency or answer questions on topics such as the costs of running household appliances or the selection of energy efficient appliances.
25) Identify opportunities to improve the operation, maintenance, or energy efficiency of building or process systems.
26) Oversee installation of equipment such as water heater wraps, pipe insulation, weather stripping, door sweeps, or low flow shower heads to improve energy efficiency.
27) Prepare job specification sheets for home energy improvements, such as attic insulation, window retrofits, or heating system upgrades.
28) Examine commercial sites to determine the feasibility of installing equipment that allows building management systems to reduce electricity consumption during peak demand periods.
29) Inspect newly installed energy-efficient equipment to ensure that it was installed properly and is performing according to specifications.
30) Prepare audit reports containing energy analysis results or recommendations for energy cost savings.
