Job Title : Engineer I - Mechanical Design

Location : Chennai Travel Required: On need basis

Reports To : Manager Position Type : Full Time

Summary :

- We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who is self-driven and an innovative designer with sound knowledge in fiber optic telecom enclosures and IP rated connecters.

Education : Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical

Experience : Minimum 5 to 7 Yrs.

Mandatory :

- Minimum 5 years experience in designing of Plastic components and Knowledge in plastic materials & manufacturing processes

- Desirable Preferably 2 years experience in designing Fiber Optic Telecom products. (Enclosures)

Software Skills : Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks & AutoCAD.

- Mandatory Must have working knowledge in all the features of Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD.

- Desirable Working knowledge in PLM vault & SAP is desirable

Other Skills :

- GD&T

- Sound knowledge on Plastic design & process

- Knowledge on strength of materials

- Basics of FEA structural analysis static/dynamic

- Basic knowledge on Plastic mold flow analysis

- Manufacturing feasibility study

Supervisory Responsibilities :

- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Role and Responsibilities :

- Interact with US clients to understand and gather project requirements.

- Ideate conceptual 3D design & complete assembly for telecom products such as Fiber Optic Terminal closures & FO Joint closures based on respective Telcordia GR standard.

- Generate conceptual 3D design, engineering calculations and detailed design for extensive range of products such as Insulation Piercing connectors & LV ABC & MVCC cable connectors.

- Conceptual designs for the IP rated connectors & IP sealed products with respect to the product functionality.

- Validate the conceptual design integrity using FEA analysis and Rapid prototyping (3D Printing).

- Deliver complete and accurate detailed design drawings as required for part manufacturing with GD&T.

- Create Drawings based on ASME Y14.5M - 1994 standards.

- Designing parts that are feasible for manufacturing process like plastics, casting, and sheet metal fabrication.

- Generate documentation including design spec, part drawings, engineering bill of materials and assembly drawing per Hubbell standard.

- Working knowledge in Vault and SAP based engineering change management process.

- Provide Cost effective design for plastic, casted, sheet metal and electromechanical product assemblies on both new and existing products.

- Knowledge on DFM and DFA is an added advantage.

- Interact with suppliers to address their part manufacturing related queries and responsible for checking and approving the quality of produced parts.

- Update applicable reports in timely manner.

- Good Team player - Develop good interaction with cross-functional team and willing to guide the electrical engineers in mechanical stream.

- Good verbal communication and presentation skill to explain the conceptual design to customers.
