Title : Local Health & Safety coordinator, Sales & Service, India

Report to : Local Service manager and Regional H&S Executive, APREG

Location : Chennai

Functional Description

Duties

The local H&S coordinator supports management in promoting a positive health and safety culture within Sales and Service in India in close collaboration with the local management and the Regional H&S Executive. The local H&S coordinator will help to ensure that Sales and Service performance in India is in alignment with local H&S laws and Group H&S standards and policies.

He or she must work cooperatively with other local H&S team members, managers and the Regional H&S Executive to ensure health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities; adapting to various work environments and business activities, within the Sales and Service scope, to create continuous improvement.

Major Tasks:

- Be a safety leader and influencer.

- Report regularly to the leadership team to ensure they are aware of the safety performance and the need for corrective action or improvement initiatives if any.

- With the leadership team and the Regional H&S Executive, develop company action plans to improve H&S, estimate and allocate the resources required and follow up on implementation.

- Strengthen the safety culture by making H&S as visible as possible throughout the company and supporting leaders in walking the talk.

- Deploy H&S best practices, campaigns and roadmaps provided by Group or Region.

- Participate in Regional EHS conferences.

- Day-2-day H&S problem solving.

- Active participation in Grundfos H&S community through Yammer posts, expert teams and provide input for global H&S direction via the Regional H&S Executive.

- Ensure compliance with Group Standard, Procedures (i.e. legal compliance, reporting, risk assessment etc.) and local H&S legislation.

- Perform incident and accident investigations and liase with authorities.

- Ensure knowledge among managers and colleagues of legal obligations on H&S.

- Be one of the Local Incident Managers for the company and deal with SIMS reported incidents.

- Report monthly EHS data to GROUP EHS.

- Provide MSDS on chemicals and relevant PPE.

Organisational Description :

Position and Reporting: Direct reporting line to the local Service Manager, India.

Functional reporting line to the Regional Health & Safety Executive, APREG.

Working Relationships

The primary interfaces are :

- The Indian Service organisation, Sales, HR, Finance, Administration and Export countries.

- Regional HQ APREG, Sales and Service, Health & Safety.

Required Qualifications :

Knowledge and Experience :

- Diploma/Degree in any engineering field and/or other degrees related to H&S.

- Solid knowledge of the plans, processes and activities within H&S management in bigger organisations.

- Ability to lead H&S processes and projects.

- Possess a basic understanding of the relevant systems, local laws and regulations where applicable for H&S.

- Fluent in Hindi and English on a proficient level, ability to communicate in other local languages an advantage.

- Around 10-15% travelling within India a year to continuously improve H&S within our Sales and Service organization.
