Fabrication Engineer

JD of Fabrication Engineer:

1. Qualification: BE Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mech Engineering with relevant experience

2. Experience: 4 to 6 years

3. Exposure to fabrication of heavy structures/customized equipment is preferable

4. Plan and execute fabrication and machining/tool room related activities for in-house developments

5. Able to study & understand the designs / assembly drawings / part drawings of Jigs & fixtures, customized equipment, material handling equipment etc.

6. Prepare BOM and list of raw material required as per the fabrication drawings

7. Prepare necessary cutting plan for both fabrication and machining

8. Coordination with Purchase Department for procurement of RM, hardware and other items as per the BOM by following the company systems & procedures

9. Coordination and follow up with outside vendors for outsourced components, which cannot be produced in house

10. Plan and arrange the resources & accessories needed like welding fixtures, drilling jigs, templates etc.

11. Plan and arrange consumables needed for gas cutting, welding, shot blasting, painting, cutters / blades needed for different machines / powered tools, coolants etc.

12. Manage and guide fabrication team involving fitters, welders, helpers etc.

13. Manage and guide in-house machining team involving basic operations like turning, milling, grinding, drilling etc.

14. Manage tool room activities like cutter regrinding / sharpening etc.

15. Coordination with maintenance team and ensuring preventive maintenance of all the equipment, tools, utilities etc. under his control

16. RM storage, Inventory control and scrap control

17. Guide fabrication team to cut the components from RM ensuring quality, no warpage, minimum scrap etc.

18. Guide fabrication team and inspect the fitment of components as per the drawings before starting welding / final welding

19. Guide fabrication team for final welding ensuring no warpage during welding using necessary welding fixtures

20. Exposure to stress relieving, shot blasting, surface treatment, painting etc.

21. Assembly of fixtures or customized equipment after the production of individual fabricated items or machined items as per the assembly drawings

22. Quality inspection and quality assurance / problem solving techniques like bend removal of fabricated items

23. Erection of manufactured fixtures / equipment at desired internal customer locations within the company premises

24. Good communication skills to coordinate with internal customers and service departments
