Role Objective :
As Plant, the incumbent :
- Takes overall responsibility of the manufacturing unit in order to meet production targets and delivery schedule within the framework of quality, cost of production and statutory requirement laid down by the organization.
- Ensures quality of products as per specifications.
- Ensures adherence to production plan and timelines.
- Ensure proper maintenance of the plant, its infrastructure & resources for sustained and enhanced performance.
- Takes overall responsibility for the people capability development of the employees at the plant.
Responsibilities :
Strategic :
- Aligns production function to the strategic requirement of organization
- Planning allocation of resources to execute planned initiatives to ensure optimal utilization of available/ allocated resources.
- Setting up production targets optimizing man & machine utilization.
- Takes overall responsibility in planning for setting up facilities for new product manufacturing within plant.
- Takes overall responsibility in manpower planning to meet projected volume.
- Assists projects in planning for additional plant or additional infrastructure to meet business requirements and capacity expansion.
- Ensures that the plant operates as a profit centre providing the organization maximum ROI in terms of actual production vis-- -vis fixed and variable costs incurred.
Operational :
- Assumes responsibility for budget preparation for the plant
- Reviews production plan & ensures target fulfillment in time by providing guidance to the Production incharge.
- Managing of manufacturing operations.
- Production maintenance QA & QC.
- Fulfils statutory requirements and coordinates with the Plant HR incharge in ensuring good industrial climate in the unit.
- Takes overall responsibility in meeting daily targets factoring on time delivery, cost, quality and quantity.
- Actively works towards bringing about process and product innovations, improvements with respect to the production and production planning.
- Liaising with Statutory Authorities.
- Ensures flexibility in production schedule to negotiate contingencies without affecting delivery schedules.
- Controls and monitors wastage and takes initiative to reduce the same.
- Introducing QMS and adherence to the same.
Maintenance Management :
- Ensures proper maintenance of all plant infrastructures on a regular basis.
- Ensures periodic preventive maintenance activities based on production schedules ensuring optimization of resource utilization.
Financial :
- Ensures that the plant provides maximum ROI in terms of average production vis-a-vis establishment and running cost of the plant.
- Ensures that projected production cost is met and the overheads are under control by reviewing monthly MIS generated by Commercial Department.
- Ensures adherence to production budget and periodically monitors actual production costs vis-a-vis budgeted costs.
People :
- Takes responsibility for people development initiatives and building up of in-house capabilities.
- Interacts regularly with process heads to identify and remove any obstacles to the fostering of an efficient and value driven work culture.
- Ensures adequate motivation and retention of all employees within the plant.
- Provides the necessary leadership and guidance to key employees and top performers through mentoring and identification of best practices to enhance performance efficiencies.
- Leading the team of Technical Staff.
- Plans for career path for members of the unit.
- Ensures regular up gradation of skills of all employees in the plant.
Education : BE / B.TECH And/ or Post Graduate Diploma/ MBA or equivalent in Operations or SCM/ M.SC (INDS. CHEM)
Experience : 15 - 30 years in Operations and SCM and at least 3 years in a position of similar responsibility.
