GE - Engineer - Controls Engineering (2-5 yrs)

Role Summary/Purpose:
The Engineer - Controls Engineering will be responsible for design, modeling, and verification of subsystem components of the Trip Optimizer product, an automated Energy Management System for Locomotives. In this role, you will focus on a subsystem design including risk/trade off analysis.
Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope and work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning, thereby effecting short-term and some long-term business goals.
In this role, you will:
- Develop a subsystem through design specifications, failure modes and effect analysis, DFSS Scorecard, and system validation specifications
- Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers
- Engage with other engineers on within scrum teams and across teams
- Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to meet business standards and program / product requirements
- Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
- Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements :
- Bachelor/Masters of Engineering in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation from a reputed College/University
- 2 to 4 years of experience in an engineering position, primarily in system design, control system design & validation
- Experience in MATLAB Simulink for simulation and mathematical modeling
- Experience in Agile, Scaled Agile Framework or Kanban
- Aerospace / automotive / locomotive / electrical drives domain knowledge
Desired Characteristics :
- Experience with embedded control systems
- Experience with locomotive operations - maintenance, dispatch, crew, signaling
- Knowledge and practical experience with Matlab / Simulink / RTW
- Knowledge of C / C++ programming language
- Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems related to complex control systems
- Strong technical aptitude, including, applicable engineering tools and systems
- Ability to understand and implement customer and industry standards
- Demonstrated initiative, drive, and communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage time
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and global matrix environment
- Ability to engage and build positive relationships with customers and internal / external stakeholders
