GE - Senior Sourcing Manager - Tender & Project Sourcing (15-17 yrs)
Role Summary/Purpose :
- The Project sourcing manger would function as the sourcing in- charge for ITO (Intent to order) and OTR (Order to Remittance) for GE Grid Solutions.
- This role will manage the GE Grid solutions India projects and work with Strategic commodity sourcing team, Project buyers, Commercial/ Sales/ Engineering/Quality teams to get best prices and contract terms in a timely manner on all sourcing related actions to win customer orders and the timely execution of the projects with no margin slippage
Essential Responsibilities :
- Act as single point contact for tendering/commercial team to get all sourcing related actions managed and executed on time.
- Identify and understand the wining price and split the target to commodities and other sourcing related items in the BOQ such as Civil, ETC, Bought out items, insourced components, Logistics etc
- Work with Project Manager and Engineering to define the BOQs on time and cascade this to commodity sourcing teams (Local and Global) and work with them to get the most competitive prices available on time that would enable GE to win the tender
- Work with different Internal Manufacturing units to bring in the cost summary of in-house sourced parts and lead cost reduction initiatives with respective site sourcing teams.
- Work with Supplier quality teams to ensure all required audits and pre-approvals are in place for the suppliers and commodities involved in the tender.
- Ensure that the GE preferred suppliers are considered for the tendering and work with commercial team to get customer acceptance on them.
- Create a strong operating rhythm with commodity managers/ project buyers and supplier quality team to ensure the price availability and supplier approvals on time
- Partner with the commodity team and engineering to lead the supplier negotiations for strategic cost improvement based on the cost position to win the tender.
- Work with engineering team to dive cost optimization ideas on all key commodities and coordinate with commodity managers to get them executed through suppliers
- Create cost synthesis against target prices for direct material and other sourcing related items and work with Project commercial teams and Commodity managers and leadership team to meet the targets and time lines
- Lead and Drive strategic initiatives such as pay term improvement, Sole source reduction, Localization, Supplier rationalization, Lead time reduction, OTD improvement etc through early engagement with commodity buyers, engineering and quality teams
- Connect with Global teams to understand the overall business plan, create visibility on tenders happening at different location and create BCC sourcing opportunities
- Comply with QMS and compliance requirements, GE Contracting policies and integrity guideline
- Identify and execute pre-bid tie-up opportunities that would help in cost improvement both at Tendering as well as at execution stage
- Work with cross functional team to identify and execute standardization of commodities, localization, simplification of process etc.
- Work with OTR team to ensure margin improvement on the tenders at execution state.
Qualifications/Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university
- Minimum 15 years of industry experience with exposure to project sourcing /global supply chain Function

- Aptitude with analytical tools (ex. Excel, Access),specific skills should include - data-mining, pivot tables, data manipulation
- Ability to perform scenario analysis and strategy development
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and business acumen
- Demonstrated financial acumen and ability to perform cost assessments and analysis
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), ORACLE Systems, COPICS, BAAN and/or other purchasing systems
- CPM or APICS certification
- Green Belt / Black Belt Certified
