General Manager - Marine (15-20 yrs)

MAIN FUNCTION :
The General Manager is expected to profitably manage the company, ensuring growth organically and inorganically.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS :
REPORTING TO SUPERVISION OF FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS : Chairman / Directors
- Supervise the senior managers including sales and service Principal Ministries
- Government departments
- Banks
- Customers
JOB DESCRIPTION GENERAL MANAGER (MARINE) :
ABOUT THE COMPANY :
Our Client is engaged in Marine business, and is one of the largest subsidiaries of a joint stock company, in operation for more than 3 decades. This company is the exclusive dealer and distributor for a well-known Japanese brand for marine engines and related products. It also manufactures fiberglass boats under license from the Japanese Principal and distributes a large range of products and services of interest to the fishing, marine and water sport industry. The company supports a large network of dealers and private workshops. The company employs 60 people and currently has revenue in the range of US$25m. Our client Head Office is in Muscat, a large showroom and a warehouse in Muscat with 4 branches outside of Muscat within Oman. The company has both domestic sales and international sales.
REQUIREMENT :
- MBA or equivalent from a reputed institution, preferably with electro-mechanical technical qualification.
- 15 years of Business experience, of which at least 5 years should be as Head of Profit Centre.
- Robust exposure to sales, marketing and servicing of electro-mechanical and consumer equipment.
- Exposure to Gulf markets (preferably Oman). If it is Oman, either he should possess a NOC or he should have left Oman two years back.
- He should have worked in a multi-cultural environment.
- PC/Computer skills
- Ability to build business success through innovation and creativity
- The candidate should preferably be in the age bracket of mid-40s to early 50s. He should be able to join within one month of recruitment
REMUNERATION :
The present incumbent gets a basic salary of Tax free Omani Rial 2,100, company housing, company car, medical benefits for self + family, Business class tickets for annual leave travel, gratuity as per Omani Labour Law.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Strategic Planning and implementation of agreed plans to ensure short and long term growth and sustainable development.
- Manage supply chain and negotiate prices of inventory.
- Constantly improve business processes
- Manage and control tender submission
- Monitor performance of finance, sales, service and inventory
- Constantly enhance business through growth and new business opportunities
- Take responsibility for the Companys financial health
- Focus on the creating and maintaining the brand value of the company/principal to maintain the market leader position.
- Maintaining long term relationships with customers, especially high profile customers.
- Developing new campaigns, promotions and other programs that can improve the volume of business.
- Maintain contact with various governmental departments, authorities and ministries (such as Ministry of Fisheries) that are crucial for the business.
- Ensure that targets are met and provide support &guidance to the sales team to achieve and exceed targets.
Monitor the infrastructure and facilities and make appropriate modifications and provide outstanding service to customers
