General Manager - Procurement - Chucks & Machine Tools Manufacturing (10-13 yrs)
Introduction : The Client is well known in the Indian and Overseas Markets as manufacturers and exporters of Chucks & Machine Tools along with Fully Finished Forged and Graded Casting Parts being supplied to Major OEMs in Tractor and Automobile Industries in India. The client is considered as one of the best manufacturing units, having in-house advanced technologies to develop and manufacture various Casting, Forging & Machined Components.
Primary Role :
- This role will be responsible for driving best in class industry practices for complete business and product related procurement for the organization. Build processes and policies and streamline the overall procurement function with standards.
- Ensure all time availability of material as per defined SLAs for Quality, Cost and Time. Implement processes to ensure optimum utilization of available material and manage inventory control to distribute goods as specified.
- Analyze and Review demand Vs. supply on a daily basis and ensure forecasting targets are met.
- Develop and design all processes and SOPs and create standards for procurement and purchase of all material used for production.
- Identify and develop potential vendors / suppliers to ensure cost effective purchase of raw material.
- Centralize sourcing / procurement of all material, general purchases, project / capital goods and contracts for all units maximizing cost saving and ensuring business objective met.
- Prepare Comparison charts and negotiate with suppliers / vendors for quality and cost effective purchase.
- This role will need to work with the senior management to determine viability of procurement. Laos work with departments like Marketing, Production and Finance for related activities and preparation on MIS.
- The role will be responsible for new vendor development; evaluation and assessment, sending inquiries based on assessment, purchase requisition to procurement meeting delivery schedules.
- Ensure proper inventory management of technical and raw material to avoid stock outs or excess inventory
- Manage all price term finalization for material sourced from all vendors, forecasting as per AOP, contract finalization, legal agreements and proper documentation for maintenance, tax purposes, Excise (if required) etc. Liaise with clearing agents, ministry or government bodies to ensure timely clearance of material, whenever and wherever required. Liaise with supply agents, transport vendors warehouse agents etc. to ensure smooth logistics and procurement of material
- This role will need to lead other employees and set forth a professional culture for others to follow.
- Work with Senior Management to ensure all business objectives are met

Key Requirements :
- A Mechanical Engineering Degree is a must. An additional MBA degree in material management will be an added advantage
- Any other additional qualification / certification in supply chain / logistics will be an added advantage
- 10 - 13 years overall experience, with at least 7 years Managing procurement function
- Excellent presentation /communication skills
- Should be strong on building relationships
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with high execution ability
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with solid negotiation, mediation and diplomatic skills
