Head - Engineering - Vehicle Design & Dynamics (24-30 yrs)

Job Context/Purpose :

- The role holder is responsible to ensure that the Vehicle Design strategy (design, development, cost, quality, service, validation, etc.) with ICE/EV Powertrain is in line with the long-term organizational strategy.

The Role Leads :

- All domains of CAE, NVH (Simulation & Development), Test Labs, CFD, Materials Technology, Safety Systems

Area of Responsibility Description of Responsibility :

Strategy :

- Responsible to strategize on the Vehicle technology plan for the next 5 years basis future regulations.

- Oversee CoE's technology development with a particular focus on improving Quality and Innovation.

Virtual Validation :

- Partner with platform team to create specifications agreement around architecture, suspension, material cost, weight, crash ratings and more.

- Create systems/Provide technical expertise to the respective teams for Virtual Validation Sign-off (VVS) through CAD simulations on set targets to release signed-off parts to sourcing, VVS provided on Durability, Crash & Safety, NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, HVAC & Multi-disciplinary optimization (MDO) for weight. Oversee day-to-day Testing.

- Manage escalation during Virtual Validation - concept & detailed Engineering simulations.

- Post Virtual validation, advise platform team on technology / specifications which may optimize costs

- Physical Vehicle Proto Testing & Development

- Develops systems and process for effective testing and measurement in-line with Global standards.

- Ensure Physical testing confirming performance targets for production prove-out (Crash & Safety, NVH)

- Partners with Consultants & Technology suppliers to evaluate superior technologies that improve performance in above dimensions.

- Ensures Correlation


- Simulation vs Test across all attributes.

- Manage any deviations in arising across Vehicle prototype, post testing & development stage

Stakeholder Management (Internal & External) :

- Maintain relations with, Platform team, other CoE'ss, Suppliers to provide inputs and make modifications basis functional limitations

- Partner with Consultants to deliver key projects

- Manage relations with ICAT, Global NCAP, SIAM to take suggestions, give feedback and incorporate advice.

- Coordinate with ARAI for Crash Testing services

Critical Experience :


- Experience in Leading CAE, NVH

- Expertise in Finite Element/Finite Volume Codes, exposure to Mechanical Engineering - Design & Analysis

- Experience in Interpretation of results both from Simulation and Physical measurements

Preferred Industry :

- Automotive OEMs/Tier 1 Technology Partners specializing in NVH/ CAE.

Educational Qualification :

- Graduate in Automobile/Design/Mechanical Engineering

- Master's in Engineering

- Ph.D (Preferred)
