Head - Manufacturing - Production (6-11 yrs)

Should be a hardcore Production profile.
PURPOSE
To strategize, lead & integrate a team of managers in the manufacturing system so as to anticipate & deliver market requirements, maintenance of operational efficiencies whilst simultaneously introducing contemporary manufacturing practices & systems in a climate of continuous improvement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Business Understanding
Basic understanding of manufacturing business and processes like cost and quality parameters, productivity, through put etc
Knowledge of regulatory compliance for a manufacturing plant with respect to labour, machinery, safety, infrastructure
Knowledge of quality standards, processes and systems for a manufacturing plant
Knowledge of Finance processes like budgeting, costing, ROI computation, IRR computation, hurdle rates etc;
Knowledge of process improvement technologies like TMP, Six sigma;
Basic knowledge of working principles of maintenance equipment and utilities like generator and boiler efficiency, power and water distribution systems
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Ensure that the manufacturing operations and resources are focused on the critical business imperatives and are in accordance with strategic directions and priorities.
Review the tentative product wise volume projections for the factory; Review the overhead requirements and related cost budget (fixed and variable) prepared by respective departments at the factory; Review the capex requirements (related to capacity, utilities, quality requirements, safety upgradation, productivity enhancement) and the related budget to fulfill the volume projections;
2. To benchmark and introduce contemporary manufacturing practices and systems on an ongoing basis.
Ensure the institutionalization of new lines and augmentation of existing new lines at the factory for capacity optimization; Provide guidance to the team to evaluate various alternatives for capacity optimization to fulfill volume projections; Identify the need for new technology / equipment to optimize capacity;
3. To ensure that the team remains committed towards continuous improvement by allowing new ideas / thoughts to be explored
Institute systems and drive review of gaps / pain-points at the factory on periodic basis; Seek inputs from Divisional Manager - Operations with regards to factory related challenges / pain-points; Involve in identification of process improvement initiatives to overcome gaps and pain-points; Monitor the implementation of process improvement on the shop floor IN ORDER TO ensure overall quality improvement of processes and systems at the factory
4. Development of the manufacturing plan from the unit objectives and synergizing action plan within the team / other HODs / FM / HO to meet them.
Review the monthly and weekly sales plan and production plan; Review the availability of quality complied raw material and packaging material at factory as per production requirements; Inform the HO in case of any quality deviations or manufacturing issues
5. Conduct daily plant meeting. Review performance and issues across departments. Guide teams, assess solutions recommended by them and review execution to ensure smooth operations.
Conduct daily review meetings to discuss production plan changes and alternatives to manage changes; Prioritize daily big ticket activities for the team; Review daily resource requirements, last day's absenteeism, wastage levels, throughput rate, PQRS score and other production related parameters; Conduct surprise plant visits to check wastage levels, adherence to safety norms and GMP at the shop floor; Participate in quality meetings at plant; Resolve any escalated production and dispatch related issues IN ORDER TO ensure smooth and continuous production run at the factory
6. Talent Management
Assist HR in conducting recruitments; Conduct performance review and planning; Coach subordinates; Work with HR team to drive and support training ; Resolve people issues in the team IN ORDER TO retain, motivate and engage talent at the Unit. Ensure harmonious employee relations.
7. To ensure that the quality of the product manufactured is as per standards through establishment and review of quality systems.
Review the PQRS score and quality related reports on periodic basis; Draw out the action plan to undertake improvement areas highlighted by R&D team and Quality HO basis product evaluation; Review the market complaints and participate in root cause identification of market complaints; Review the addressal of market complaints by the team to avoid reoccurrence of the complaints;
8. Define a structured review mechanism for compliance of all EHS norms. Review and ensure adherence to same.

9. Ensure timely completion of all expansion projects (design finalisation/ BOQ finalisation/ installation/commissioning) and continuous reviewing and monitoring of the progress of such projects.
