Head - New Product Development (10-20 yrs)
Function: Corporate
Location: Bangalore
Direct Reports: As per Organisation Structure
Qualifications: Must be an engineering graduate
Experience:
- Must have minimum 10 years of experience with at least last 5 years in Leadership role in engineering/manufacturing companies.
- Hands on experience in SolidWorks or similar,
- Solidification Simulation software,
- Knowledge of ASTM / ISO/ DIN / JIS / Customer Standards
- Good knowledge in casting drafts and tolerances, GD&T, etc.
- Good knowledge of castings processes
- Project management Tools like Gantt Charts
Role Purpose:
- Responsible for the development and provide support for product development of New Parts / products as per the customer requirements/market demand in stipulated time and costs.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Prepare NPD Budget and work within the Budget
- Responsible to prepare project plan for new products including timelines and resources required,
- Responsible for complete gamut of New Product Development activities like Casting Design, Fixture Design, Sample development, Pilot Lot Submission, techno commercial discussions, etc.
- Ensure documentation of process for all new products
- Work in close co-ordination with customers, understanding the requirements and identifying/suggesting appropriate improvements.
- Ensure prototypes are developed on schedule and within budgets
- Support pilot production of new products
- Partner with quality in ensuring rigorous new product testing to meet customer specifications
- Facilitate the feasibility study with Marketing team/Management for RFQs
- Track metrics- with respect to new product development timelines etc.
- Responsible for conducting feasibility study for castings and machining drawing
- Responsible for organizing CFT meetings at every stage of the project and keep records of the same
- Responsible for raising internal and external engineering change note
- Responsible for casting simulation, interpretation of results and take corrective actions in design and development
- Responsible procuring of material for product development as per the defined process
- Responsible for vendor development for Casting and Machining Products.
- Responsible for APQP and PPAP documentation
- Responsible for implementing the QMS in his function
- Responsible for setting up systems for archiving and cataloguing of all the new products developed
People Management:
- Ensure discipline is maintained and culture of performance is inculcated in the team
- Establish accountability and ownership in his team towards achievement of deliverables against the plan
- Ensure coordination and communication between internal teams for sharing relevant inputs on time including the support functions
- Identify training requirements of his team members and recommends training programs accordingly. Ensures his team members are imparted training to bridge the gap.
- Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to direct reports / team members in order to achieve business results
MIS & Reporting:
- Responsible for reporting to COO on key issues of New Product development
- Responsible to prepare SOPs and other related documents and keep them updated
- Responsible all documents related to new product are archived for future reference
