Head - New Product Development - FMCG (15-20 yrs)
Synopsis of the role :
- The Spice Tailor is a rapidly expanding purveyor of quality Indian foods. Co-founded by celebrity chef Anjum Anand and head-quartered in London, our products are sold in Australia, the Middle East and India. Our clients include Coles, Sainsbury- s, Spinney's and Tesco.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for leading efforts involved in new product / process development and improvements with direct responsibility for some projects.
- This position initiates, evaluates plans, directs, executes, implements, and reports on activities related to the development of new products, improvements or cost savings ideas.
- The key responsibilities for this position are to develop and document new product formulas and processes, support internal and external client needs, and manage projects to budget and timelines.
Essential functions :
The successful candidate will :
- Develop new product ingredients & recipes
- Identify and develop opportunities to maximize sales through food product offering & standards
- Establish new product processes
- Maintain food product standards at all times.
- Monitor & interpret food product performance as a method of optimizing menu selection.
- Identify potential local suppliers of high quality food & packaged food.
- Ensure spot checks of appropriate manufacture, storage, temperature control, delivery & handling, are maintained by both vendors at all times.
- Maintain strong relations with vendors through regular communication, updates, feedback & follow up.
- Have the ability and ambition to grow to the next level within a 2-year timeframe

- Minimum 5 years- experience in management position within either food manufacturing or food beverage related industry.
- Experience of pre packed food development, and ready to drink beverages/juices, beverage mixes.
- Visual merchandising.

Preferred education and experience :
- Experience in a commercial food manufacturing environment
- Food science education, 10-15 years of hands on experience in or working closely with manufacturing.
- Experience in Food Technology is mandatory

- Proven ability to interact effectively with department, company or customer associates and experience in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to "think outside the box" and accept or create new ideas and take calculate risks on new products and process development
- Strong computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
