Key Competency Required:

- Sound knowledge of various topologies used for Convertor and inverter applications

- Sound knowledge in active(IGBT/MOSFET) and passive parts(capacitor/Inductors)

- Hands on experience in the design of SMPS/Inverter

- Sound knowledge in EMI/EMC standards and mitigation methods

- Hands on experience in developing software algorithm for any power conversion application(VFD application preferred).

- Knowledge on HALT/HASS test and one of the proven methodology to establish MTBF

- Exposure to National Instrument based test system is desirable

- Knowledge of safety/EMI/EMC standards

- Knowledge of global safety standards

Key Purpose of this Job

Responsible for the hardware and software development of variable frequency drive

Responsible for reliability prediction and field performance

Key Responsibilities

1.Hardware and software algorithm development for power conversion application

2.Reliability prediction and design verification of variable frequency drive

3.Maintaining the VFD test lab and getting necessary statutory approvals like CE/UL

Indicative Tasks

1.Hardware and software algorithm development for power conversion application

Selection of suitable power components(IGBT/Capacitor/diodes/coils) meeting the performance/cost requirements

Design to meet global safety standards and EMI/EMC requirements

Circuit simulation to predict the performance

Thermal modeling/simulation to select appropriate heatsinks and cooling system

2.Reliability prediction and design varification of variable frequency drive

Design of HALT test and predict the MTBF of a design

Design of test cases to varify functional and reliability requirements

Establish part level validation facility for critical parts such as capacitor

Establish a method to forecast the MTBF of new designs

3. Maintaining the VFD test lab and getting necessary statutory approvals like CE/UL

Ensuring availability of all necessary standards

Constantly upgrade test facility based on new failure mode

CE/UL/EMI/EMC approval in coordination with external agencies/lab
