Head - Procurement (14-23 yrs)

- Understands the supply chain priorities of the organization and provides inputs to support formulation of strategic procurement strategy based on criticality of requirements, cost control norms and quality specifications in consultation with COO, SBU Heads and Technical CoE Heads

- Develops strategic plans for efficient procurement of material and process improvement and translates them into standard processes and systems to minimise lead time and cost

- Formulates purchase risk management strategy and manage commodity pricing and forecasting

- Assists the SBU Heads in developing a strategy for long-term Capital Goods/ Capex Procurement.

Financial

- Prepares the overall budget for the Procurement in consultation with SBU business strategies and forecast

- Reviews the key performance metrics of the function on periodic basis and intervene as and when necessary

- Monitors performance of the function against set goals and against the budget on a periodic basis

- Drives cost efficiencies in the SBU operations; identifies new and innovative ways to drive cost reduction in Procurement

Operational

i. Establishes procurement policies across the organization related to production schedule and inventory in accordance to the best practices in the industry and internal company policies

ii. Oversees preparation and approves requisitions, purchase orders for any required supplies

iii. Guides SBU Direct Material Managers to ensures availability of raw material/ parts as per the production plans agreed

- Prepares a roadmap and plans for early vendor involvement for new developments of Capex, Indirect materials

- Oversees purchase operations both domestic and other geographies for identified categories (Machines and Equipment, Raw materials, Indirect Materials, Capital expenditure)

- Oversees and monitors inventory levels against targets for raw materials and components, work in process and finished goods

- Reports deviations in actual supply to SBU plant units as against formulated supply schedules

- Monitors market trends, information and pricing of key raw materials on a periodic basis to ensure market competitiveness in all geographies

- Guides the supplier quality manager to continuously evaluate performances of existing vendors and oversees the identification and selection of new vendors in the domestic / international market; with the purpose of gaining cost and quality benefit

- Oversees the commercial negotiation with identified vendors/suppliers for major/ critical procurement to ensure best possible terms of sourcing for the organization

- Performs techno-commercial evaluation of the Capex proposals in coordination with SBU Heads

- Maintains an effective working relation with suppliers by establishing and maintaining equitable and mutually profitable relationships

- Participates in supplier audits periodically and reports deviations from standard operating procedures for corrective action

- Collaborates with Engineering and Design function to understand and proactively plan for material/ tool/ equipment requirement for new products, tools or processes

- Ensures the team maintains information services in the areas of new items and services, price fluctuation, new sources, equipment design and changes, new materials and methods

- Ensures that all activities within the procurement function are compliant with corporate standards as well as government regulations

- Monitors incoming and outgoing movement of materials and ensures appropriate and complete documentation of the same

- Implements purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures and ensure adherence to company policies

- Reviews, evaluates, and approves specifications for issuing and awarding bids

- Guides geography procurement teams for all best practices and technical expertise; intervene where necessary to handle escalations

iv. Directs SBU and geography procurement team to ensure that purchase orders, contracts, bids and service agreements are processed in compliance with corporate policies and procedures

People :

- Works with Head HR and Administration to ensure the department is adequately staffed as per the manpower requirements

- Ensures timely goal setting, monitoring, review of performance parameters and feedback to team members; ensure the same across the department

- Ensures appropriate training and capability building of employees in the department

- Mentors and grooms high-potential employees, to ensure their career growth and succession readiness for key positions in the department

- Monitors the performance of employees within the department and take actions wherever necessary
