Head - Sustainability - Port/Shipping/Infrastructure/Heavy Engineering Sector (8-20 yrs)
The Sustainability Head is responsible for overseeing the sustainability management program, through the development, implementation and monitoring of the current sustainability strategies and polices which promote sustainable port development.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies and action plans which ensure corporate sustainable development
- Provide strategic vision & plan and be responsible for the implementation of various Environmental and Safety initiatives of the Port.
- Environment Compliances, Compliance Reporting & Liaison with statutory bodies i.e. the State Pollution Control Board & the Regional Office, MoEF
- Obtaining Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forests, Delhi for all new projects as well as expansion of the existing one.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory conditions.
- Dissemination of environment related information to external and internal agencies.
- Formulating/implementing systems & programmes for key environmental resources viz., water, drinking water, oil, energy, fuel, waste management, etc.
- Setting up of Emergency Control Centre and Occupational Health Centre and handling of Accidents / disasters
- Responsible for Managing a team, Establishing goals & objectives, Managing performance & Deliverables and Developing & Mentoring staff.
- Drive corporate strategic sustainability plans across assigned locations
- Identified leader on sustainable procurement for all goods and services
- Coordinate all aspects environmental management
- Ensure compliance sustainability legislation
- Audit, analyse and report sustainability performance to internal and external clients
- Promote and increase awareness, at all levels of an organization, the impact of emerging sustainability issues
- Guide site team on implementation on sustainability management framework
- Train staff at all levels in sustainability issues and responsibilities
- Carbon footprint assessment as per national and international guidelines for port sustainability reporting using GRI guidelines.
- Draft and implement procedures on Stakeholder engagement, grievance management mechanism, materiality management
- Collaboration and affiliation with identified NGO / CBO groups for suitable partnership projects.
- Foreseeing performance bottlenecks and taking corrective measures to avoid the same.
Qualifications and Skills
- Post Graduate Degree in Environmental sciences / Environmental Engineering or Environmental law from a recognised National / International University.
- Experience in Port / Shipping Sector / Infrastructure/Heavy Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in Environmental Assessment / Regulations with direct experience in interpreting and navigating environmental regulations and issues encompassing local, state national and international regulatory requirements and permit processes.
- The ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- The ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community regarding the sustainability program and present this information to management, public group and existing and prospective customers.
