Ingram Micro - Director - Group Lean Leader (10-20 yrs)
Reporting to: Reporting to Global Lean Leader
PURPOSE:
- Ingram Micro is making a global investment in implementing a Lean Operating System across its operations. In this journey, the company is looking for high potential talent that can be focused on value creation, and building a culture of problem solving and continuous improvement.
- This role is responsible for leading, promoting and facilitating the successful implementations and execution of the Lean Operating System in the distribution/logistics and supply chain operations across a broad regional and/or functional designated scope.
- This position will partner with group presidents, country chief executives (CCE), functional leaders as well as strategic customers by applying lean principles and practices, including Kaizen, to drive sustained continuous improvement results and to create a culture of continuous improvement. The position provides feedback on the progress for the various initiatives into the country/business unit leadership teams as well as the global Lean team on a regular basis.
- This position will lead a group of Lean Leaders at various sites in developing a Lean portfolio/body of work in partnership with the above stakeholders. This position will be evaluated through the successful Lean implementation and realization of sustainable results for that scope.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coach, mentor and develop site Lean Leaders, and operations leadership in Lean principles, practices and tools. Promote and facilitate development of Lean BOK for front line associates.
- Contribute to developing and enhancing the Lean Operating System.
- Develop a strategic Lean transformation portfolio with the CCE for each country in scope, including sizing and managing them successfully over time.
- Accountable for delivering sustainable results for their scope of operations (group of sites and/or business units)
- Lead Lean transformation of significant scope/complexity on their own.
- Conduct governance reviews with site Lean Leaders, CCE and operations heads on regular basis.
- Drive continuously improving results by leveraging Lean principles, practices and tools, consulting skills, and change management process.
- Assist country/business unit leadership & site Lean Leaders in the development of a Lean transformation roadmap
- Ensure productive kaizen events through leading or coaching teams
- Implement operational balanced scorecard (safety, quality, delivery and productivity) for the designated scope
- Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them
- Improve Lean BOK, training and facilitation skills by pursuing continual Lean learning
- Promote and facilitate associate development in various Lean tools, lean operations, and kaizen leadership
- Actively participate in the Lean Leader community to benchmark and incorporate best practices
- Drive best practices across sites and globally across regions.
- This role will generate a significant multiple of invested cost across the span of control in terms of value creation (expected 5-8x).
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
- Academic undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Industrial Engineering or equivalent. MBA a plus.
- Formal Lean training and certification required, with Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus.
- Minimum 10+ years experience in deploying/implementing Lean transformations in transactional and logistics business environment. Extensive ability to design, develop and implement a Lean transformation roadmap.
- Ability to manage a diverse set of geographically distributed Lean Leaders across multiple sites.
- Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a - general managers point of view
- Consultative approach and experience with change management
- Strong communication and influencing skills and the ability to work successfully with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent strong training and facilitation, problem solving, time and project management skills
- Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic and ability to create followership, and lives the - continuous improvement- philosophy and can drive change successfully, and constantly challenges others to strive for improvement.
- Logical and creative thinker, with demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, and with strong result orientation - has track record for delivering results, takes ownership & is accountable
- Good writing and administrative skills, including MS office skills
- Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 50 - 70%)
