Instrumentation Designer - SP3D 3D (4-15 yrs)
Requirements:
- 5 to 15 years of experience in instrumentation design within the oil & gas industry.
- Proficiency in SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) for instrumentation and equipment modeling.
- Strong knowledge of cable tray design, including routing, load calculations, and clash detection.
- Experience designing and placing junction boxes (JB) and integrating them with control systems.
- Proficient in 3D modeling software for designing and visualizing complex industrial systems.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and control equipment such as transmitters, sensors, actuators, and control valves.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 3D models of instrumentation layouts using SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), ensuring proper placement of instruments, junction boxes, cable trays, and equipment.
- Design and route cable trays for instrumentation and electrical cables, ensuring proper separation and efficient cable management.
- Create and update instrument layouts, equipment models, and support systems within the 3D model.
- Design and place junction boxes (JB) and other control equipment in coordination with process and electrical engineers.
- Design cable tray routes within the plant to accommodate signal, control, and power cables, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
- Optimize tray routing to prevent interference with other plant systems and ensure ease of access for maintenance.
- Coordinate with piping, electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation designs.
- Participate in design reviews and clash detection processes to resolve potential conflicts in the 3D model.
Compliance with Industry Standards:
- Generate detailed drawings, cable routing diagrams, and equipment layouts for procurement and construction teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in SP3D is a plus.
