Junior Manager - R&D - Plastic Coating (4-10 yrs)
Role Overview:
We are seeking an R&D Junior Manager with a strong background in plastic coating technologies. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing and improving plastic coating formulations, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and customer specifications. You will manage the day-to-day R&D activities and contribute to driving new innovations in plastic coatings to support the business's growth and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulation Development:
Lead the development and optimization of plastic coating formulations to meet customer and market requirements, focusing on performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Product Innovation & Research:
- Conduct innovative research to explore new plastic coating technologies, materials, and techniques.
- Identify opportunities for product improvements and new applications in the plastic coatings space.
- Testing & Analysis:
- Oversee and conduct testing of plastic coating products to ensure they meet required performance standards (adhesion, flexibility, durability, resistance to environmental factors). Analyze and interpret
test data to optimize formulations.
- Project Management:
- Manage R&D projects from inception through to commercial application. Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure smooth execution of product development and commercial readiness.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to production, quality control, and customer service teams. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical challenges related to the plastic coating products during production or client feedback.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with production teams to ensure the scale-up of new formulations from the lab to fullscale production. Collaborate with marketing teams to provide technical expertise for new product launches and client specifications.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all R&D activities, including product development, testing results, and improvements. Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all R&D activities are carried out in compliance with environmental, safety, and industry regulations. Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and ensure all products comply with relevant standards.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
At least 4 years of experience in R&D, specifically in the development of plastic coatings, polymer
coatings, or similar materials. Experience in the paint or coatings industry is an advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of plastic coating technologies and formulations.
- Experience with testing methods for coating performance and durability.
- Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment, testing protocols, and formulation software.
- Strong understanding of chemical reactions and polymer science related to coatings.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze complex data, conduct root cause analysis, and propose effective solutions.
- Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present research findings, technical data, and recommendations to team members and senior management.
- Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Strong team player who works effectively in cross-functional teams. Able to provide leadership and technical guidance to junior team members while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Project Management:
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and delivery of research and development tasks.
