Lead Structural Engineer - Mechanical (12-20 yrs)
- Designing Structures: Creating detailed plans and designs for mechanical structures using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Analyzing Loads and Stresses: Calculating the pressures, stresses, and strains that structures will encounter.
- Material Selection: Choosing appropriate materials (e.g., steel, concrete, timber) to ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaboration: Working closely with architects, civil engineers, and other professionals to ensure designs are functional, cost-efficient, and aesthetically pleasing.
- Project Management: Overseeing construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Compliance: Ensuring all designs and constructions comply with legal standards and environmental regulations.
- Problem Solving: Identifying and addressing potential structural issues to improve safety and performance.
Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's Degree can be advantageous1.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure may be required, which involves passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam.
- Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and project management abilities.
- Experience: Hands-on experience with various construction methods and materials is highly valued.
