Lead Traction Motor - Electric Vehicle Design (10-18 yrs)
Job Description :
- Responsible for high efficiency, high performance Switched reluctance motor (SRM), Synchronous reluctance motor (SynchREL), PMSM/BLDC Motor & Generator design & development for electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle applications. Electrical design of motor/generator & electromagnetic analysis using FLUX, MAXWELL & SPEED software.
- Knowledge of switched reluctance motor design is preferred. Comparing different types of motors (SRM, SynchREL, PMSM, Induction, etc) for EV & HEV applications.
- Develops methods to improve electric machine performance through improved materials, modeling methods, and design algorithms.
- Testing & validation of electric machines as per relevant standards.
- Prototype building & proving concept design with tight timing constraints.
- Mechanical design and packaging of motor /generator in the powertrain of vehicle Preparation of DFMEA & review of PFMEA with the vendor.
- Thermal analysis of the motor & applying different methods of cooling the motor. Costing of motor/generator & generating VAVE ideas.
- Keep track of global trends in relevant technology, regulations and develop long-term road maps and appropriate work plans.
- Benchmarking and generation of ideas for better performance, quality, cost, weight.
- Ability to solve novel, difficult design problems with tight timing constraints.
Technical/ Functional Domain :
- Knowledge of automotive drive train and components in EV and HEV drivetrain. Translating vehicle level requirements to motor design requirements.
- Knowledge of PMSM, SynchREL & SRM design and development.
- Preferred background in research and Ph.D. is preferred.
- Electromagnetic analysis experience with good working knowledge of CAE tools, such as FLUX, Maxwell, MotorCAD, JMAG, and analytical tools like SPEED.
- Performance optimization with Ansys optimization tools.
- Knowledge of motor assembly, winding techniques, and magnetic materials.
- Knowledge of electric machine testing methods & standards.
- Knowledge of basic design parameters of electric motors, raw material, practical production problems, and different application requirements of SRM & PMSM motors, quality, and process.
- Strong knowledge of the mechanical design of motors & good understanding of construction/manufacturing methods of electric machines.
- Thorough knowledge of different control strategies used for SRM & PMSM PMSM, PMBLDC, SynchREL and other motors.
- Knowledge of thermal management of motor & different cooling system designs.
- Experience in electric vehicles & hybrid vehicles will be added advantage
- Software skills: FLUX, MAXWELL, MotorCAD, SPEED, Matlab/SIMULINK with knowledge of SIMSCAPE, 3D modeling tool (UG NX preferred). .
