Engineer, at Maersk Tankers based out of Maersk Global Service Centre, Mumbai.
The Role
- The candidate will be reporting to the Dy. Manager Energy Efficiency in Mumbai and in his absence to the Manager Energy - Responsible for performance optimization of all Maersk Tanker Vessels incl. Brostrom Vessels, pool partner vessels and - Optimization of the performance of above Vessels in respect of.
- Monitoring and improving the quality of data fed into the ship reporting system, the MSPS
- Setting, driving and monitoring of all Energy KPI's for both - the vessels in the fleet and the technical organization
- Constantly updating and monitoring the financial and CO2 savings effected by the various optimization projects
- Work towards the possibility of setting up training modules that would assist the sea-going staff with better understanding o Fuel Consumption reduction initiatives across the fleet including but not limited to Cylinder Oil Consumption reduction o Executing super-slow steaming across the fleet, pool partner vessels and external vessels under the MSPS program
- Explore commercial aspects of speed adjustment and implementing the same
- Monitoring of performance trends and deciding if the vessel's hull needs cleaning and getting the same executed
- Effective training of vessel staff and fleet groups with regard to optimization projects
- Explore the possibility of any retro-fit solutions or implementing new technology on-board tanker vessels
- Pro-actively work towards setting up new and innovative optimization projects that could be implemented in the future
- Collate and analyse vessel performance reports with objective of highlighting and supporting Fleet Groups in addressing o Evaluate performance of various segments / Fleet groups and provide analytical feedback with suggestions for improvement o Engage with different stakeholders, internal and external to ensure optimum utilization of performance reporting on o Evaluate the Main Engine performance and advise vessel for necessary tuning required for performance improvement
- Assist Chartering and Operations in investigation of vessel's fuel consumption related claims
- Identify areas of opportunity in vessel's fuel saving initiatives and engage with them to assist in improving it
Position Specifications
- At least 1-2 years of sailing experience as a Senior engineer, preferably on tanker vessels
- Holding relevant qualifications of a Marine engineer and/or Naval architect
- Project Management experience at Ship yards / dry docks will be an added advantage
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be a good team player
- Good knowledge of MS office especially MS Excel would be an added advantage
