Profile:
Working on ideas as part of a team or developing design concepts using taking part in multidisciplinary team meetings
Sketching initial Product Design Ideas
Brainstorming ideas and creating models
Designing products aesthetically with the needs and wants of a specific audience in mind
Collaborating with mechanical engineers and manufacturers
Identifying the suitability and availability of materials for aesthetic design
Meeting with vendors to establish the design brief, including the concept, performance and production criteria
Making samples or working models by hand or using computerised prototyping equipment
Testing the design concept by computerised modelling or physical hands-on testing of models
Determining whether a design is practical by gauging product safety
Researching materials, processes or market requirements
Making presentations to senior management to present design proposals
Occasionally travelling to vendors' production facilities and evaluating the feasibility of production
Skills: Creativity: Need to look at existing products and determine how they could look better beyond the current reality to what's possible. Functionality of new products in development and anticipating customers- needs.
Experience: 2-4 Years
Educational qualification: M Des from NID, IDC
