Job Description for the Position of Design Manager/ Head
Location: Central Suburb, Mumbai
Company Overview:
Our client, an established name in the industry, started business in the 1970s. It is a fast-growing engineering company manufacturing & exporting high pressure autoclaves/reactor system, micro/flow reactor, filter, dryer & other allied lab to plant scale process equipment/system. All the products are known for niche, design marvels.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Lead and manage a team of 12-15 Design Engineers & responsible for process equipment and system design
- Ensure the team's adherence to timelines for the generation of shop floor drawings, ensuring projects progress smoothly and meet delivery schedules.
- Conduct thorough design reviews to verify accuracy, functionality, and safety aspects of the proposed designs.
- Coordinate with clients & certifying body on design & drawing approvals.
- Coordinate with cross functional departments, to identify potential bottlenecks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize errors, rework, and project delays.
- Monitor the progress of design deliverables, identify potential delays, and take proactive measures to keep projects on track.
- Provide clear direction, set performance goals for the team
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor/ Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in process equipment design and manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Should have experience in rotating equipment design, reactors & pressure vessel design with knowledge of ASME codes will be an added advantage.
- Should be well versed with machinery handbook, tolerances, bearing design, pressure sealing, gaskets/ o-ring design
- Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other design tools commonly employed in the process equipment industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements, implement best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the design team.
- Knowledge or expertise on FEA on Ansys or similar platforms will be an added advantage.
