Section Operation :

Purpose of the Position :

- To provide leadership and technical support for the Direct Reduction Operation Team, ensuring that operational problems are overcome in a timely manner and technical improvements opportunities are identified and realized, in order to achieve cost- efficient production process capable of providing high- quality products that meet customer's needs.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities :

- Identify, design, and propose technical improvements and/ or developments based on current and future plant/ process requirements, implementing approved plans as appropriate in order to support the continuous technical improvement of the Direct Reduction Plant and process.

- Identify and develop improvements to operation standards, policies and procedures in order to support continuous improvements in operating performance.

- Make modification / adaptations to plant/ process in order to achieve optimum solutions to technical problems and support the achievement of ongoing improvements in plant productivity.

- Evaluate technological developments and perform feasibility studies on the application of new technology in order to support continuous improvements in productivity and quality.

- Manage discrete projects and support/ contribute to larger projects from their conception up to completion in order to ensure that projects are delivered on time, as per budget, and as per quality specifications.

- Use specialized engineering skills and techniques to evaluate and solve technical problems in order to support the achievement of uninterrupted production.

- Received the overall production plan from the production planning section, translate it into specific shift plans and follow up on actual production achieved in order to ensure production plans are met.

- Coordinate with the production planning section on production planning issues in order to ensure that realistic production plans are generated that take proper account of ongoing plant/ process limitations and allow for minimum cost, and optimum production output.

- Identify and recommend plant, equipment and material purchasing requirements, perform technical evaluation of materials, equipment and suppliers and ensure effective commissioning, following up where necessary.

- Liaise and coordinate with plant and equipment suppliers on technical issues in order to ensure problems are identified and corrected to minimize process problems.

- Handle all technical correspondence with plant and equipment suppliers, ensuring correspondence is dealt with appropriately.

- Develop specifications and operating standards for new plant, equipment, and processes in order to ensure that it is operated according with supplier's recommendations and planned operational benefits are realized.

- Ensure that all technical documentation is maintained and filled appropriately in order to ensure easy access to data as required.

- Promote the technical development for production team members in order to ensure the employees have the capabilities required to perform to the required standard both by the current time and in the future.

- Prepare annual budget for the production team to enable effective cost management.

Work Contacts :

- Direct contact with upper management, team under his responsibility, and peers in similar position in the Melt Shop, HSM and maintenance team. Contacts with suppliers as required, and occasionally with end customers.

Supervision Exercised :

- Overall responsible for the Direct Reduction Plant operation team in charge and process support services, and others. Overall supervision over a team of 83 professionals.

Minimum Requirements :

Qualification & Training :

- University Degree in Engineering, preferable in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.

- No Specific training required.

Work Experience :

- Minimum 12 years- experience in Direct Reduction plant / MIDREX or Same function in Chemical plants. Full understanding of plant and process specifications and parameters.

Work Environment :

- 10% of work time is spent in plant environment, exposed to a moderate degree of disagreeable conditions.
