Manager - Production Planning & Control - Electronics Manufacturing (10-20 yrs)
Job Summary :
- As the PPC Manager at a leading EMS (electronics manufacturing) the incumbent will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of 3-4 manufacturing plants by overseeing the Production Planning and Control (PPC) team. Responsibilities will encompass the strategic and tactical planning of production activities, inventory management, and vendor coordination to meet customer requirements and optimize operational efficiency. This role will require strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Raw Material Planning : Develop and execute monthly and weekly raw material plans in alignment with the production schedule to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing processes.
Manpower Planning : Determine manpower requirements based on sales volume projections and coordinate with HR for recruitment and training as needed.
Production Planning : Create monthly, weekly, and daily production plans to meet customer dispatch schedules, coordinating with other departments and external vendors as necessary.
Inventory Management : Ensure timely availability of finished products as per sales plans while maintaining agreed stock levels. Monitor and control inventory in work-in-progress (WIP) and storage areas.
Cost Savings : Establish and maintain procedures for internally manufactured stock components to optimize material and manpower usage.
Material Accountability : Oversee the issuance of materials from the store to the production floor, maintaining accurate accountability records.
New Product Introductions : Manage the planning and integration of new product introductions into the manufacturing process.
Process Optimization : Implement process-driven systems within manufacturing units and the PPC team to enhance workforce efficiency.
Vendor Relations : Cultivate and maintain strong vendor relationships, addressing quality and delivery issues proactively.
Inventory Optimization : Focus on safety stock, minimum order quantity, and knowledge of BOM, KANBAN, MIN-MAX order quantity, and safety stock to optimize inventory levels.
Plant Efficiency : Work to improve plant efficiency and supplier performance, identifying and addressing performance gaps.
Reporting : Prepare monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports and represent the PPC department in front of the management team.
Problem Resolution : Analyze production backlog, detect problems, and communicate issues related to procurement, supply planning, order management, and product engineering to the relevant departments.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in PPC, production planning, or related roles
- Strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
- Proficiency in using related ERP/software other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes.
