Job Description:
- To lead new product development activities within the stipulated time period & budget in order to improve the business
- Engineering Graduate with minimum 12 years or Diploma with minimum 15 years of work experience in new product development
- Basic understanding of process design for automotive components, specially in transmission & differential gears
- Knowledge of process design of transmission gears, machining process & inspection process for tool & fixture
- Knowledge of tool, gauge & fixture design, fixture inspection/calibration
- Knowledge of tooling costing & vendor database, process flow of tool & fixture design
Responsibility:
1) Gear, tool & gauge design
- Sample & design analysis Blanks, tools & turned parts
- Technical review with customer & tooling feasibility study
- Tool layout presentation
- Blank & tool costing
- Vendor selection & PR request
- Feasibility study of tool with fixture & machine set up
- Taking approval from customer/head
- Managing key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis
2) Machine selection & fixture design
- Sample & design analysis
- Technical review with customer & fixture feasibility study as per available machine set up
- Preparing fixture concept layout
- Checking feasibility of fixture with tool & machine set up
- Fixture costing
- Vendor selection & PR request
- Taking approval from customer/head
3) New product development costing
Costing for new parts Machining cost, tool cost, fixture cost, manpower cost etc
- Cost revision in case of change of design
- Price negotiation & cost approval from customer
4) Process improvement
- Review APQP/PPAP
- Capacity analysis
- Balancing
- Review of tools
- Poka-Yoke & Kaizen implementation
- Vendor training & updation
- Customer interaction regarding progress of their orders
