Heat Treatment Process

- Supervise various heat treatment operations like carburizing hardening, tempering, induction hardening and quenching

- Maintain process and output parameters like temperature, cycle time, bath concentrations and hardness, strength, microstructure, etc.

- Select the heat treatment processes, soaking temperatures, soaking times, type of quench media for various steel grades to ensure the material is complied with material specifications and has passed mechanical testing requirements

- Review heat treatment retreat rates on problematic steel grades to reduce retreat rates and achieve - right first time- on material.

- Responsible for regular supplier Audit for Raw material, Casting, and Heat Treatment Suppliers

- Conduct Field Failure analysis and continuous process improvement in Heat treatment & Surface treatments (Electro plating, Chemical Blackening, Brazing, Phosphating).

- Undertake studies for Process improvement in developing alternate Heat treatments - Normalizing, Tempering, Solution annealing, Stress relieving for casting

- Perform necessary tests and modifying heat treatment processes

- Prepare and present weekly and monthly complete reports of the Heat Treatment processes and products to Plant Head, Manufacturing Head and Quality Head

- Laboratory practices

- Understand the nuances of quality control process during steel making procedure and hence is able to identify which supplier provides the best quality of steel

- Maintain a check on the in-coming process and coordinate with external laboratories.

- Metallurgical lab practices:

- Hands - on experience in day to day lab operation which involves metallic element

- Examine and test metal samples to determine their physical properties. Conducts routine microscopic examinations of metals and alloys to determine their crystal structure, porosity, homogeneity, and other characteristics

- Tests sample in pressure devices, hot-acid baths, and other apparatus to determine strength, hardness, elasticity, toughness, or other properties of metal.

- Excellent time management, planning, organization and prioritization skills.

- Strong Analytical skills

- Business Acumen

- Knowledge of:

- CQI-9,11,12 Audit & MCA Assessment

- In-process inspection

- includes chemical analysis, mechanical property tests, evaluation of casting soundness and product testing of special properties such as electrical conductivity, receptivity, magnetic effects, corrosion resistance, responds to heat treatment, strength in assemblies, surface conditions, cooling and surface treatment and others.

- Steel Manufacturing process (required for audit of suppliers)

- Quality Management Systems

- Base Location : Thane (Extensive travel required))

- Qualification: B.E (Mech.) from reputed university.

- Yrs. of Exp: 10-15 years of experience in metallurgical processes.

- Age Preference: Less than 40 years of age
