Mechanical Engineer - Biogas Plant (5-8 yrs)

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Engineering:

-Design, develop, and implement mechanical systems for biogas plants, including digesters (various types), gas holders, s lurry handling systems (pumps, mixers, agitators), and piping networks.
 
-Prepare mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications for all mechanical equipment and systems.

- Perform mechanical calculations, such as pressure vessel design, fluid flow analysis, and heat transfer calculations.

- Select and specify appropriate mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, blowers, valves, and heat exchangers.

- Ensure compliance with relevant mechanical codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).

Installation & Commissioning :

- Oversee the installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring proper alignment, installation, and safety measures.

-Conduct site inspections and supervise mechanical contractors during installation and testing.
 
- Commission and test mechanical systems, including digesters, gas holders, slurry handling systems, and piping networks.

- Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical issues during the commissioning phase.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting :

- Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems within the biogas plant.

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems, such as pump failures, leaks, blockages, and equipment wear and tear.

- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, such as pump inspections, bearing replacements, and equipment overhauls.

- Maintain accurate records of all mechanical maintenance activities.

Process Optimization:

- Analyze biogas plant operations and identify areas for improvement in mechanical system performance and efficiency.

- Implement process optimization strategies to enhance gas production, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall plant efficiency.

- Investigate and implement new technologies to improve the performance and reliability of biogas plant mechanical systems.

Safety & Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and best practices related to the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

-Conduct safety inspections and implement safety measures to prevent mechanical accidents.
 
- Train plant operators on safe operation and maintenance procedures for mechanical equipment.

Research & Development:

- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and biogas technologies.

- Explore and implement innovative technologies to improve the design, operation, and maintenance of biogas plant mechanical systems.

- Conduct research and development activities to optimize mechanical systems for specific biogas plant applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

-5+ years of professional experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems for industrial plants, preferably biogas plants.

- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and machine design.

-Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD Mechanical, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
 
- Experience with the operation and maintenance of industrial equipment, such as pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Strong analytical and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong commitment to safety and quality.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

- Experience with renewable energy technologies, particularly biogas.

- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.

- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
