Mechanical Head - Power Plant Greenfield Project

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Head to oversee all Mechanical engineering aspects of a 25MW Greenfield power plant project in Africa. The role involves leading the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with international standards and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design, planning, and execution for all systems, including turbines, boilers, cooling systems, and piping networks.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of major mechanical equipment, ensuring proper integration with other plant systems.
- Manage mechanical contractors and suppliers to ensure adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, civil, and operations) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for mechanical systems and components.
- Ensure compliance with international mechanical codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Monitor and troubleshoot mechanical issues during the construction and commissioning phases.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including mechanical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols in all mechanical activities.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to the project team and contractors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; a Master's degree is a plus.
18+ years of experience in power plant projects, including at least 05 years in greenfield projects.
- Expertise in the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems in power plants.
- Familiarity with gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, and other critical power plant machinery.
- Hands-on experience with EPC contracts and contractor management.
- Knowledge of African mechanical and safety standards is preferred.
