Hi we have an opening with one of our shipping client for Ocean Freight Manager in Bangalore Location.
The Job
Your Responsibilities will include:
- To ensure set budget numbers for the products (on all parameters) -T/O, GP / EBT is achieved and responsible for complete Ocean Freight Operations
- Review MIS on weekly basis and come up with plans / projections to meet shortfall, if any - during weekly meeting in order to meet monthly product budget / targets
- Negotiate and achieve best cost / buy rates in the market from carriers and co-loaders to maximize profitability for local rate filings - SE / SI
- Meet at least 4 customers (new or existing, import or export) per month to solicit higher support to our business and to ensure no loss of client or business due to service or operational issues
- Ensure billing to client / overseas within 24-48 hours of container stuffing / vessel sailing (100 % compliance is mandatory)
- Meet at least 2 carriers each month to develop rapport and improve relationships
- Global Standardisation of Processe (GSP) to be followed without deviation, especially digital filing via audit report
- Work closely with Area Head / National Head to maintain and improve our India's market recognition with the customers
- All processes to be following as required by Carrier / Port / Custom from time to time for filing of IGM and ensuring correct and timely filing of documents
- Work in close collaboration with local Quality/ ISO incharge to ensure highest level of service delivery by the branch product team to all customers
- Closely work with Area Head to secure most competitive commercial offers for regular/ strategic customers with high potential.
- Act as lead local contact for Quality audit, ISO.
- Logging of customer complaints and closure of complaints as per the defined priority of the complaint received
- To ensure increase in productivity with increase in number of files per staff - operational productivity to be enhanced by 100% over last year
- To meet the departmental objectives and achieve operational efficiency bench mark
- Ensure Succession Planning for critical positions and developmental action plans for all in team
- To ensure profit share invoices received for all shipments within 3 days of arrival of shipment (14 days in case of own consols)
- Coordination with Overseas Agent for nomination shipments Communication with overseas agents, customers (where required) and with branches as part of HUB operations
- Coordination with Shipping line & NVOCC for Ocean Freight rates
- Meeting productivity criteria and monitor profitability per shipment
- Handling the nomination for branches and import/export queries of new & existing customers.
Ideal Candidate
Skills Required:
- Graduate / Degree holder
- 8-10 years or above relevant experience in serving senior management of sizable companies; experience in handling a team is a must
- Experience in freight forwarding industry
- Excellent speaking, reading, & writing skills
- Independent, efficient, self-motivated with strong sense of responsibility
- Diligent, honest, ethical plus a high level of integrity
- Good problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced work environment and to deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
