We are looking for Plant head for one of our EMS client in Chennai . The plant manufactures Wiring harness which are supplied to Auto and Industrial Industry. Total turnover of this Plant is Rs 10- 12 Crores.

Purpose :

- Take a single-point accountability for Manufacturing Operations - namely, production, maintenance, supply chain (sourcing, procurement, inbound & outbound logistics) and coordination with customer

Strategic :

- Achieve customer satisfaction by planning & executing production runs to achieve OTIF

- Plan "ahead of curve" and build manufacturing capacity & capability for sustaining business success

Operational :

Production Operations :

- Oversee manufacturing operations and attain monthly production targets by assigning targets and tracking progress against targets by analyzing daily reports and database.

- Design and implement systems & procedures to facilitate smooth functioning of overall production operations & enhance operational efficiency.

- Generate various reports on monthly and annual basis.

Costing :

- Review costs at every link of supply chain and effect needed corrections

- Work with vendors, help them develop capabilities to cater to Kayne's delivery, cost and quality requirements, as also a flexibility to ramp up capacity "on-demand"

Process Improvement :

- Analyze various processes / applications and recommend process modifications and equipment calibrations to enhance operational efficiency.

- Implement major cost savings strategies, productivity enhancements & quality improvements

- Ensure complete in-process quality control & continuous improvement in process capabilities.

- Foresee performance bottlenecks and take corrective measures to avoid the same

Project Management :

- Installation, commissioning of plants and equipment.

- Verify layouts for the project as per the process and material flow needs.

Quality Assurance & Control :

- Take stringent quality measures including preparation / maintenance of necessary documents and conducting audits to ensure compliance with ISO-9000:2000 standards.

- Maximizing customer satisfaction level by Just on time delivery(JIT), monitoring customer complaints and providing efficient after sale services.

- Periodically conducting Internal Audits to assess the status of deployment of systems and take corrective measures for achieving organizational objectives.

Material Planning/Inventory Management/Procurement

- Prepare material requirement plan as per production plan needs.

- Constantly review & plan inventory replenishment, guide & drive team to achieve stiff targets on material availability and on avoidance of mis-matched inventory

- Review procurement prices in relation to internationally recognized benchmarks; as needed, intervene to influence price reductions or corrections

Supplier Quality Assurance :

- Carry out vendor localization/ indigenization for curtailing costs of materials as well as negotiating the terms of credit with vendors as well as the cost of material required.

- Work in close coordination with vendors for detailing them on quality requirements and finalizing the quality plan.

- Plan & carry out process audits at vendor's end and to monitor trends.

Key Account Management / Business Development :

- Manage set of Customers and also bring new customers over a period of time

Engineering/New Product Development/NPI :

- Review the customer drawings and get actively involve in the New Product Development and New Product Improvement

MIS :

- Generate various MIS reports of the plant including all the depts. like Sale, Purchase, operations, Store, HR, finance, legal, System, Quality on monthly/quarterly, yearly basis.

Training :

- Conduct training programs time-to-time to enhance the skills of the staff & workforce and as a result gain improved productivity.

HSE :

- Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.

- Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.

Tactical :

- Establish and nurture connect with neighboring Industries, Industry Bodies, District- and State- level Government Functionaries etc

Must Criteria :

- Mechanical Engineer, with 15-to-20 years of work experience, from Wire Harness organizations, with skills in providing leadership to a large manufacturing / assembly plant. Starting as a Plant Head, and, working through expansion projects and managing customers well, the prospective candidate can look to grow to a BU Head position

KRA :

- Improve OTIF (on time in full) over next 2 years through improved materials planning & procurement and PPC

- Achieve Manufacturing P&L as per budgets, control cost of production and other OpEx as per budgets agreed

- Anticipate and correct likely operational constraints (related to production capacity, workers, vendors and others) to ensure deliveries of product
