Powertrain Engineer (5-11 yrs)

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and develop powertrain components and systems, including internal combustion engines, transmissions, electric drives, hybrid systems, and associated controls.

- Perform simulations, calculations, and system modeling to support concept selection and design validation.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including calibration, software, thermal, NVH, and chassis engineering.

- Conduct and analyze powertrain testing (dyno, bench, and vehicle-level).

- Support the development of control algorithms and calibration strategies for optimal powertrain operation.

- Interface with suppliers for component design, validation, and delivery.

- Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements (emissions, fuel economy, noise).

- Participate in FMEA, DVP&R, and root cause analysis activities.

- Stay current with emerging powertrain technologies and trends, especially in electrification.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field).

- 2+ years of experience in powertrain development or a related field (internship/co-op experience considered for entry-level roles).

- Strong knowledge of powertrain systems - ICE, hybrid, and/or electric.

- Proficiency with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Power, AVL Cruise, etc.).

- Familiarity with testing tools and data acquisition systems.

Working knowledge of regulatory standards (EPA, CARB, Euro 6, etc.) is a plus.

- Hands-on experience with vehicle testing and diagnostics is a plus.

- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with electric and hybrid vehicle architecture.

- Control systems development and calibration (e.g., HIL/SIL testing).

- Exposure to ISO 26262 and functional safety requirements.

- Understanding of thermal management systems.
