Process Engineer - Pipeline Leak Detection & Hydraulic Optimization (18-30 yrs)
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer with expertise in pipeline leak detection and hydraulic optimization within the Oil & Gas industry.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for process calculations, hydraulic analysis, simulation studies, and performance optimization of cross-country pipelines. This role requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to improve pipeline efficiency and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Pipeline Process Engineering:
- Perform process calculations for cross-country pipelines, including hydraulic analysis, multiphase flow, pressure drop, and surge calculations.
- Conduct root cause analysis for pipeline performance issues and failures.
- Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, Heat & Mass Balance calculations, and pipeline sizing & selection calculations.
- Define process parameters for pipeline datasheets.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in brainstorming sessions on process safety, risk mitigation, and response mechanisms.
- Contribute to Management of Change (MOC) studies, providing process optimization recommendations.
Testing, Commissioning & Optimization:
- Develop and implement pipeline testing & commissioning procedures, including:
- Hydrostatic & Pneumatic Testing
- Chemical Cleaning Methods & Best Practices
- Analyze pipeline insulation requirements and perform related process calculations.
- Utilize PLO Hydraulic Simulator for pipeline optimization.
- Build, calibrate, and optimize Pipeline Optimizer (PLO) Models using process data.
- Conduct Drag Reducing Agent (DRA) and power optimization studies, identifying optimal locations for DRA skid installations.
- Assess pipeline performance impacts due to variable cost changes, out-of-service (OOS) equipment, and de-rating scenarios.
- Assist the scheduling team in developing optimized variable cost plans for assets.
Leak Detection & System Integrity:
- Optimize leak detection systems (Atmos/PLM) for enhanced performance.
- Conduct leak detection KPI assessments and integrity evaluation studies.
- Improve leak detection thresholds to enhance operational efficiency and risk mitigation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in upstream/refining processes and cross-country pipeline engineering.
- Strong understanding of process unit operations, fluid flow, and reaction principles.
- Experience in pipeline simulations and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in HYSYS, UNISIM is preferred.
- Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively with engineers and resolve operational challenges.
