Job Description: As a process modelling and optimization engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing first principles models and dynamic systems to optimize our process manufacturing plants. Your expertise will be essential in improving efficiency, safety, and productivity across our operations.

Key Responsibilities: 


- Your responsibilities cover several aspects of development listed below.

- Develop First Principles Models

- Create and validate mechanistic models based on fundamental physical and chemical principles.

- Simulate chemical processes to predict system behavior under various conditions.

- Use models to optimize process design, control strategies, and scale-up procedures.

Dynamic Systems Analysis:

- Develop and implement dynamic first principles and machine-learning models for process control and optimization.

- Analyze transient behavior of processes and design control strategies to ensure stability and performance.

- Implement advanced control algorithms and real-time optimization techniques using Python.

Process Optimization:

- Identify opportunities for process improvements and develop solutions based on model predictions.

- Formulate and solve mathematical optimization problems of various types such as non-linear programming, linear programming, mixed integer linear programming, etc.

- Conduct experiments and pilot tests to validate model-based recommendations.

- Collaborate with process engineers, operators, and other stakeholders to implement optimization strategies.

Data Analysis and Integration:

- Utilize process data and advanced analytics to refine machine-learning models and improve prediction accuracy.

- Integrate models with plant data systems for real-time monitoring and control.

- Develop and maintain documentation for models, simulations, and optimization procedures.

Programming and Implementation:

- Implement the conceptualized first-principles models using object-oriented programming concepts.

- Write clean, reusable, and generalized code components in Python to enable faster development.

- Follow standard practices of coding to foster collaborative development.

Technical Support and Collaboration:

- Provide technical support for plant operations, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives.

- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and production teams to ensure alignment of modeling efforts with business objectives.

- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in process modeling and control.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor- s/Master's degree/PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related field

- Minimum 2 years of working experience in Chemical Engineering/Process Engineering, Process Optimization or a related field

- Strong background in chemical process modeling, simulation, and optimization.

- Proficiency in using modeling software and tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, Hysys, DWSim, gPROMS).

- Experience in programming and related libraries (e.g. in Python - pandas, sk-learn, pyomo, etc.)

- Experience with dynamic systems analysis and control theory.

- Familiarity with process data analysis and integration techniques.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience in process manufacturing industries such as chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, or food processing.

- Knowledge of advanced control strategies (e.g., model predictive control).

- Mathematical programming and Object-oriented programming skills (e.g., Python, C++) for custom model development and data analysis.

- Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to process safety and environmental compliance.

Good-to-Have Skills:

- Possess experience or interest in product management-related capabilities (e.g. product roadmap development, product strategy, workflow management, etc.)
