Production Manager - Steel Melting Shop (15-18 yrs)
Job Title : Production Manager
Department : Steel Melting/Making shop
Reporting : GGM/GM/Directors
Reported : Shift In charge / Foreman (Production) / Melters
Academic Qualifications : BE/Dip in Engg - Metallurgy
Experience : 15 - 18 years in Steel Mills
Age Bar : 40 yrs (max)
Desired Qualities :
1. Working experience must in mini/integrated steel plants
2. Thorough knowledge of steel melting/steel making through induction furnace, AOD/LRF and CCM route conforming to ISO standards and grades (SAE, ASTM, EN, Ethiopian standard).
3. Well conversant with international quality standards, grades and specifications and common procedures of steel industry
4. Should have worked in the capacity of Production head for 4-5 years in a mini/integrated steel industry
5. Man-material management, inventory control, assessment and planning of spares and consumables for plant operations
6. Should have knowledge of project execution / plant commissioning
7. Liaison with procurement, logistics and suppliers for follow up of raw materials and consumables
8. Excellent communication skills, Generation of MIS, consumption and production reports as required by the Management
9. Optimization of melting practices
10. Should be conversant with maintenance practices followed in steel industry and guide maintenance team on ground
11. Self-starter / motivated, should be able to lead the team with initiatives and comply with Management policies
12. Overseas exposure desired
Responsibilities :
1. Planning of Production on day to day basis based on Monthly Production Plan / Target
2. Review and requisite manpower for production department
3. Estimating cost parameters in work area and control
4. Reviewing and Planning Preventive Maintenance Schedule based on Breakdown trends, productivity Improvement, Safety Requirements
5. Developing a team of competent Staff, Technicians and work force
6. Maintaining inventory of Raw Materials and consumables for Operations
7. Supervision and coordination for Resources and raw materials
8. Maintaining manpower discipline
9. Ensure planned KPI's of efficiency and performance are met or exceeded
10. Coordinate, set up and implement standard operating procedure for all production operations
11. Manage the adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure first pass quality meets or exceeds planned goals.
12. Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve the objectives
13. Working with other managers to implement the company's policies and goals
14. Ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed
