JOB SUMMARY (State briefly the principle purpose of the job i.e. what the job is expected to accomplish). :

The job holder will be responsible for planning, managing and executing production operations, ensuring the highest standards are met by directing the manufacturing functions, including supervision of employees involved in die setting, machine operation, scheduling, quality, packaging and logistics and that people and equipment are optimized to their full capability.

AUTHORITIES ASSIGNED (State authorities delegated for financial matters or other decisions- if applicable) :

- Manage production budget including monitoring of raw material inventory

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE) :

- Bachelor's degree/ Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Tool & Die Technology

- Advanced training in industrial supervision

- Minimum 10 years experience in a reputed Tube Mill with hands-on knowledge in operations management Experience in OTO Mills (Italy) will be a major advantage

- Should have proven track record of continuously improving efficiency and productivity.

- Strong safety and compliance knowledge and the ability to recognize/correct hazardous conditions

- Computer skills (MS Office & AutoCAD preferable)

- Proven track record in leading and motivating others in a tube manufacturing environment

- Track record of dependability

- Formal training in lean manufacturing/ISO/Kaizen concepts/continuous improvement a major plus

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (List duties under two separate headings: REGULAR DUTIES AND PERIODIC DUTIES. Use a numbered statement for each duty. :

REGULAR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES :

Production Responsibilities :

- Lead manufacturing operations and overall plant performance including safety, production, quality standards, shipping, receiving, scheduling and maintenance

- Ensure production processes are carried out in accordance with company's policies and procedures and optimize production operations to meet quality and performance standards.

- Planning, managing and executing production operations

- Defines priorities, creates machines/people schedules and assigns work to implement production schedules based on material, machine and staff availability. Changes work assignments in response to schedule changes or problems with material, machine or staffing.

- Coordinate (with the relevant departments) and plan production priorities, workflow to foresee and overcome difficulties.

- Develop/update standard operating procedures and best practices for production operations.

- Identify/report and correct operational and maintenance problems to prevent production delays.

Operations Responsibilities :

- Implement best-practice manufacturing methods and introduce new practices and systems to improve productivity, yield and quality with steel pipe manufacturing

- Attends technical meetings, pre-production meetings, site visits, deal with technical enquiries and may give presentations to major clients as may be required

- Oversees unique setups, troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problem, or demonstrating proper machine operations of equipment and machines.

- Maintains records and files relating to production, machine schedules, work schedules, and personnel issues.

- Provide technical expertise and training to all mill manufacturing areas

- Ensure statutory compliance at workplace.

- Produce & submits reports scheduled production reports as directed

- Ensure the set quality parameters are met consistently resulting to customer satisfaction & value

- Ensure raw materials and finished products conform to specifications.

- Monitor machine cycles and mill operation to detect operating efficiencies against the recommended efficiency levels.

- Partner with the sales team on creative solution design and product testing to meet customer needs Recommends work flows and layout of plant and warehouse areas.

- Reviews daily operating reports and communicates findings related to operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues and shift events to superiors

Budgetary responsibility :

- Propose annual production budgets, monitors and controls all costs of operation including raw materials inventory

- Develop working quarterly proposals for Rolled Coils supply

- Analyze overall budget and implement cost-optimisation initiatives

Procurement responsibility :

- Evaluates machines/equipment to develop specifications and make recommendations for production related spares & capital equipment items purchases

- Ensure availability of consumables and utilities are consistent and controlled.

Safety Responsibilities :

- Ensure safety measures and procedures are followed and that all work methods conform to safe working systems to reduce unexpected incidents and hazards.

- Enforces all Safety rules. Ensures employees are adequately instructed on safety procedures and hazard communications, lockout/tagout, emergency evacuation and on personal protective equipment use.

- Ensure compliance with the environment health and safety rules and regulations.

- Ensure the set housekeeping standards are met and improved continually.

- Champion safety activities. Drive and implement pertinent OSHA and internal safety standards and processes, develop production areas- safety inspections and audits, and promote safety goals and awareness with team members

People Management Responsibilities :

- Assigns employees to jobs and tasks based on abilities, skills, and need for development. Monitors work activities

- Builds staff capacity through regular training, coaching and feedback. Provides support, driving business initiatives and encouraging self-development

- Manages staff attendances and absenteeism by authorizing vacations, shift changes and absences.

- Participates in staff recruitment and interviews applicants.

- Build and maintain a positive team oriented culture and working amongst production personnel & other team members

- Facilitates effective performance evaluation program based upon the job requirements and behavioural indicators of performance

- Enforces rules & procedures. Confers with supervisor on personnel matters when needed & institutes staff discipline in coordination with factory management and Human Resources

- Promotes open communication between employees and management.

- Attends pre/production meetings, answers questions and provides information as requested.

Continuous Improvement Responsibilities :

- Achieve the set targets and yield and continually seek ways to improve.

- Ensure maximum uptime of all machinery and utilities, breakdown to be controlled within the set tolerances and improve machine efficiency continually

- Participate in troubleshooting operational and tooling problems to improve quality and efficiency

- Continuously endeavour to eliminate/minimize rejections/defects ensuring that they are contained within or below the set targets

Maintenance Responsibilities :

- Oversees & supervises maintenance activities. Directs and assists designated maintenance personnel in diagnoses and repairs;

- Ensure planned preventive maintenance is implemented & executed by preparing maintenance schedules in a planned, timely and efficient manner to enable optimum availability and life of equipment

- Ensure mandatory legal machine safety compliance relating to calibration, inspection, stamping & certification

- Schedule routine inspection and maintenance of production equipment to prevent equipment break-downs and malfunctioning.

- Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time

- The position requires personal dedication and commitment to ensure all round shift management & operations. Incumbent may have to walk/stand for extended periods of time to cover 10 - 12 hour shifts. The job holder must be flexible and physically fit to with stand the strain.

- Continuous exposure to machinery noise and vibrations may pose health risks.

- Job holder must undergo regular medical check ups and follow through all preventive/corrective recommendations as advised.
